Submarine Landslides Could Cause Wide‐Spread Tsunami Impact in the East Sea (Sea of Japan)

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Oceans, Volume 131, Issue 9, September 2026.
Abstract The East Sea (Sea of Japan) is a seismically active back‐arc basin with a history of devastating tsunamis, yet regional hazard assessments and mitigation planning often overlook the tsunamigenic potential of submarine landslides. This study investigates the tsunami impact of large‐scale mass failures along the southwest (SW) margin of the East

Bayesian Analysis of Infragravity Edge Waves

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Oceans, Volume 131, Issue 9, September 2026.
Abstract Infragravity (IG) waves (periods nominally 25–250 s) are generated in shallow water by nonlinear difference‐frequency interactions between shorter period (nominally 4–25 s) incident sea‐swell waves. Previous studies show strong IG reflection from the beach face and detectable IG energy in alongshore‐propagating edge waves.

Surface Change Detection on Venus: An Inter‐Mission Comparison Framework Between Magellan and Future Radar Images

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Planets, Volume 131, Issue 9, September 2026.
Abstract Detecting surface changes on Venus by comparing Magellan synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data with future high‐resolution data from Envision and VERITAS will be essential for constraining present‐day volcanism and characterizing planetary surface processes.

Restoration of temperate forestry‐drained fens brings back key species and ecosystem function

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 63, Issue 9, September 2026.
Our results highlight that rewetting forestry‐drained temperate fens can lead to partial vegetation recovery and jump‐start peat formation. Abstract Fen peatlands act as carbon sinks and are hotspots for specialized species, but a large proportion of fens have been drained for agricultural or forestry use.

Morphological and Histometric Alterations in Gonadal and Neural Tissues of Native and Non‐Native Fishes From the Lower Doce River Basin in Southeastern Brazil

open access: yesAnatomia, Histologia, Embryologia, Volume 55, Issue 5, September 2026.
ABSTRACT The ichthyofauna of the lower Doce River basin has been exposed to multiple anthropogenic stressors. Among these, the collapse of the Fundão mining tailings dam in Mariana, Minas Gerais, Brazil, in 2015 resulted in massive fish mortality and widespread contamination of aquatic environments.

Multi‐Temporal UAV Surveys and Modelling of Soil Erosion in the Ca l'Isard Catchment, NE Spain

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Soil Science, Volume 77, Issue 5, September–October 2026.
ABSTRACT This study investigates seasonal sediment dynamics in highly active Mediterranean mountain badlands by integrating multi‐temporal Uncrewed Aerial Vehicle (UAV) surveys, and landscape evolution modelling (LEM) in the Ca l'Isard catchment (NE Spain).
