Response of Aging Chloroplasts to UV Radiation
1990Extensive reports are available on degradation of chloroplasts during leaf aging(l). Stress like water deficity(2), high temperature(3) and high light intensity (4,5,6) are demonstrated to accelerate leaf aging, consequently a rapid degradation of chloroplasts. Ultaviolet(UV) radiation is known to produce extensive damages of thylakoid membranes (7,8).
