UV Radiation in Photomorphogenesis

1983
The ultraviolet range of the electromagnetic spectrum has been classified as vacuum UV from 100 nm to 200 nm, far UV from 200 nm to 300 nm, and near UV from 300 nm to 400 nm. The vacuum UV, which is absorbed by gaseous compounds in the air, such as oxygen or water vapour, can only be transmitted if generated in a vacuum.

UV-radiation in galaxies

Astrophysics and Space Science, 2011
I review the origin of UV-radiation in galaxies of different morphological types. UV-excess in spectra of massive elliptical galaxies which have predominantly old stellar populations is traditionally explained by the contribution of low-mass stars at very late, poorly known stages of evolution—by so called ‘AGB-manque’ stars or by the population of ...

UV Radiation and Cytokines

1997
There is solid evidence for the existence of a complex network of interacting soluble mediators which influence immunologic and inflammatory reactions (Luger and Schwarz, 1990). These mediators include cytokines, growth factors, eicosanoids and neuropeptides.
