Formation of Sub-galactic Clouds under UV Background Radiation [PDF]
The effects of the UV background radiation on the formation of sub-galactic clouds are studied by means of one-dimensional hydrodynamical simulations. The radiative transfer of the ionizing photons due to the absorption by HI, HeI and HeII, neglecting ...

Environmental & health impacts of ultraviolet radiation: current trends and mitigation strategies
Contrary to the conventional wisdom and practices moderate non-burning ultraviolet (UV) radiation may be beneficial to our existence, but ecosystems and human health are seriously threatened by the rise in UV radiation from ozone layer loss and climate ...

UV Radiation and Its Relation to DNA Methylation in Epidermal Cells: A Review
DNA methylation is the most studied epigenetic mark, and it can be altered by environmental factors. Among these factors, ultraviolet radiation (UV) is little explored within this context.

Ultraviolet radiation changes [PDF]
A major consequence of ozone depletion is an increase in solar ultraviolet (UV) radiation received at the Earth's surface. This chapter discusses advances that were made since the previous assessment (World Meteorological Organization (WMO)) to our ...

The Effects of Ultraviolet Light on Anthocyanin Accumulation in the Adventitious Roots of Sedum wrightii (Crassulaceae) [PDF]
Several studies have supported the idea that anthocyanin accumulation may be a possible protection mechanism in plants against DNA damage caused by ultraviolet radiation (UV).

Evaporating Very Small Grains as tracers of the UV radiation field in Photo-dissociation Regions
Context. In photo-dissociation regions (PDRs), Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) could be produced by evaporation of Very Small Grains (VSGs) by the impinging UV radiation field from a nearby star. Aims. We investigate quantitatively the transition

This study presents novel anti‐counterfeiting tags with multilevel security features that utilize additional disguise features. They combine luminescent nanosized Ln‐MOFs with conductive polymers to multifunctional mixed‐matrix membranes and powder composites. The materials exhibit visible/NIR emission and matrix‐based conductivity even as black bodies.
