Chemistry of a protoplanetary disk with grain settling and Lyman alpha radiation
We present results from a model of the chemical evolution of protoplanetary disks. In our models we directly calculate the changing propagation and penetration of a high energy radiation field with Lyman alpha radiation included.

Synchrotron Radiation for Quantum Technology
Materials and interfaces underpin quantum technologies, with synchrotron and FEL methods key to understanding and optimizing them. Advances span superconducting and semiconducting qubits, 2D materials, and topological systems, where strain, defects, and interfaces govern performance.

Ultraviolet radiation effects [PDF]
Solar ultraviolet testing was not developed which will provide highly accelerated (20 to 50X) exposures that correlate to flight test data. Additional studies are required to develop an exposure methodology which will assure that accelerated testing can ...

Hot white dwarfs and the UV delay in dwarf novae
We calculate the effect of illumination of dwarf nova accretion discs by radiation from a hot, central, white dwarf. We show that only for very hot white dwarfs (Teff ~ 40 000$ K) the inner region of quiescent dwarf nova discs are partially depleted so ...

Squamous cell carcinoma of the dorsal hands and feet after repeated exposure to ultraviolet nail lamps [PDF]
Gel nails are a common artificial nail option. Ultraviolet (UV) nail lamps are commonly used to cure gel nails. Ultraviolet A radiation is a known mutagen that penetrates into the nail bed.

HKUST‐1/TiO2 composite materials show a very high photocatalytic hydrogen evolution rate which increases as a function of the irradiation time until reaching a plateau and even surpasses the performance of the 1%Pt/TiO2 material after three photocatalytic cycles.

Growth of a mat-forming photograph in the presence of UV radiation [PDF]
Knowledge of the survival and growth of microorganisms in the presence of ultraviolet radiation is important for understanding the potential for life to exist in environments exposed to high fluxes of UV radiation.

Sunburned plankton: ultraviolet radiation inhibition of phytoplankton photosynthesis in the Community Earth System Model version 2 [PDF]
Ultraviolet (UV) radiation can damage DNA and kill cells. We use laboratory and observational studies of the harmful effect of UV radiation on marine photosynthesizers to inform the implementation of a UV radiation damage function for phytoplankton ...
