UV-C pre-adaptation of Salmonella: Effect on cell morphology and membrane fatty acids composition

open access: yes, 2014
The present study was carried out to evaluate the effects of ultraviolet radiations (UV-C) on the fatty acids composition of three serovars of Salmonella: S. typhimurium, S. hadar and S. zanzibar.

Submicron Metasurface Reconfigured Multiband Smart Windows

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents a submicron metasurface reconfigured multiband thermochromic smart window. By integrating subwavelength nanostructures into a Fabry−Perot resonator configuration, it mitigates conventional trade‐offs to simultaneously deliver high luminous transmittance and robust solar heating and radiative cooling modulation capabilities ...

Shaping Matter with Acoustic Waves: From Particles to Functional Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Acoustic‐directed assembly is reviewed as a materials‐oriented strategy for organizing particles, polymers, metals, and biological systems into functional structures. The review distinguishes reversible manipulation from permanent structure formation through medium fixation, particle fixation, and in situ material generation, highlighting routes toward

NONO regulates the intra-S-phase checkpoint in response to UV radiation

open access: yes, 2016
The main risk factor for skin cancer is ultraviolet (UV) exposure, which causes DNA damage. Cells respond to UV-induced DNA damage by activating the intra-S-phase checkpoint, which prevents replication fork collapse, late origin firing and stabilizes ...

Clusterization‐Triggered Emission from Cellulose‐Based Luminophores in Dilute Aqueous Solution through Imine Formation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Clusterization‐triggered emission is realized in dilute aqueous solution by introducing imine linkages into cellulose‐based luminophores. Imine functionalization creates O/N‐rich, hydrogen‐bonded clustered microenvironments that stabilize emissive states and restrict molecular motions. Luminescence is tunable by amine type and multiplicity.

Identification of Mycosporine-like amino acids and expression of 3-Dehydroquinate synthase gene in UV radiations-induced Deinococcus radiodurans R1

open access: yes, 2020
Mycosporine-like amino acids (MAAs) are a group of more than 40 metabolites originated from 4-deoxygadusol featuring antioxidants, growth stimulation, and UV protective properties in many microorganisms. In D.

UV Climate at Mars Surface: A Proposed Sensor for Both Orbit and Ground Stations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The UV conditions on the surface of Mars are of paramount importance for the human exploration of Mars. We propose to measure spectrally the solar direct and diffuse UV and visible radiations from both Mars orbit and surface with light ...

COMBINED EFFECT OF ALLEOPATHY AND UV-B RADIATION ON LENS CULINARIS MEDIK

open access: yesFUUAST Journal of Biology, 2014
The effect of UV-B radiation and alleopathic chemicals of Prosopis juliflora were studied on Lens culinaris individually and in combination. The UV-B radiation suppressed the germination percentage and germination velocity at 10, 20 and 30 minutes ...
