CONSIDERATIONS CONCERNING THE INFLUENCE OF UV RADIATIONS ON THE BODY [PDF]

open access: yesAnalele Universităţii "Constantin Brâncuşi" din Târgu Jiu: Seria Inginerie, 2019
This paper shows how the association between ultraviolet light (UV) and the diseases produced by the human body. There is strong evidence that exposure to ultraviolet radiation (UVR) is associated with malignancy of basal cell carcinoma, photokeratitis ...

Enhanced Photocurrent of the Ag Interfaced Topological Insulator Bi2Se3 under UV- and Visible-Light Radiations

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2021
Bi2Se3 is a topological quantum material that is used in photodetectors, owing to its narrow bandgap, conductive surface, and insulating bulk. In this work, Ag@Bi2Se3 nanoplatelets were synthesized on Al2O3(100) substrates in a two-step process of ...

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

His+ reversions Caused in Salmonella typhimurium by different types of ionizing radiation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1988
The yield of his+ reversions in the Ames Salmonella tester strain TA2638 has been determined for 60Co γ rays, 140 kV X rays, 5.4 keV characteristic X rays, 2.2 MeV protons, 3.1 MeV α particles, and 18 MeV/U Fe ions.

The comparison of ZnO/polyaniline nanocomposite under UV and visible radiations for decomposition of metronidazole: Degradation rate, mechanism and mineralization

open access: yes, 2019
ZnO/polyaniline (ZnO/PANI) nanocomposite was produced through aniline in-situ chemical polymerization method on ZnO nanostructure. Different techniques including FT-IR, FE-SEM, EDX, DRS and TGA were employed to identify the composition and structure of ...

EFFECT OF UV IRRADIATION ON THE DYEING OF COTTON FABRIC WITH REACTIVE BLUE 204 [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of the University of Oradea: Fascicle of Textiles, Leatherwork, 2017
Reactive dyes are synthetic organic compounds used on a wide scale in textile industry, for painting materials of different types and compositions (e.g. 100% cotton, wool, natural satin, viscose, synthetic fibres).

A spectrally bright wavelength-switchable vacuum ultraviolet source driven by quantum coherence in strong-field-ionized molecules

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2021
We report generation of spectrally bright vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) and deep UV (DUV) coherent radiations at the wavelengths of 192 nm, 198 nm and 204 nm.

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

UV and ionizing radiations induced DNA damage, differences and similarities

open access: yes, 2016
International audienceBoth UV and ionizing radiations damage DNA. Two main mechanisms, so-called direct and indirect pathways, are involved in the degradation of DNA induced by ionizing radiations.

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...
