Differential Diagnosis of Viral-Induced Anterior Uveitis
Ocular immunology and inflammation, 2018Diagnosis of uveitis is often challenging, but can be easy in typical viral-induced anterior uveitis (VIAU). Associated symptoms and signs are an important source of information.

BMJ clinical evidence, 2011
Anterior uveitis is rare, with an annual incidence of 12/100,000 population, although it is more common in Finland (annual incidence of 23/100,000), probably because of genetic factors, such as high frequency of HLA-B27 in the population. It is often self-limiting, but can, in some cases, lead to complications such as posterior synechiae, cataract ...

Psoriasis Associated with Anterior Uveitis
Journal of Pediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus, 1977A patient with psoriasis and anterior uveitis is described. In her family the two entities of iridocyclitis and psoriasis occurred separately in two generations and appeared associated in the third generation. Tissue typing of the family revealed HL-A 27 antigen in two members and HL-A 17 in the other two members.

ACUTE ANTERIOR UVEITIS AND SPONDYLOARTHROPATHIES
Rheumatic Disease Clinics of North America, 1992An acute onset, unilateral anterior uveitis occurs during the course of either Reiter's syndrome or ankylosing spondylitis. Conversely, many patients who suffer from an acute anterior uveitis are HLA-B27-positive and have associated joint disease. The consistent presentation of the uveitis can aid in the process of differential diagnosis.

Chemokines in acute anterior uveitis
Current Eye Research, 1997The aim of this study was to define the expression of chemoattractant cytokines (chemokines) in human aqueous humor, obtained from patients with idiopathic acute anterior uveitis (AU). The chemokines assayed included macrophage inflammatory proteins-1 alpha and -1 beta (MIP-1 alpha and -1 beta), monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1), interleukin-8

Anterior uveitis is the most common form of intraocular inflammation and is thought to be either idiopathic or HLA-B27 related disease in the majority of patients. With improvements in molecular diagnostic techniques, viruses are increasingly being identified as a cause of anterior uveitis.
