UWB Switched-Beam Array Antenna Employing UWB Butler Matrix
2008 International Workshop on Antenna Technology: Small Antennas and Novel Metamaterials, 2008In this paper, we show that the design of a UWB Butler matrix can be accomplished using couplers and phase shifters in microstrip/slot technology. As a result of the proposed approach, we present the design of a 4-element switched-beam array antenna operating between 3.1 and 10.6 GHz.

(UWB)2: Uncoordinated, Wireless, Baseborn Medium Access for UWB Communication Networks
Mobile Networks and Applications, 2005A MAC protocol for Ultra Wide Band (UWB) radio networks named (UWB)2 is proposed. The algorithm exploits typical features of impulse radio such as large processing gain, and is conceived in conjunction with a synchronization strategy which foresees the presence of a synchronization sequence in each transmitted packet.

Development of CMOS UWB transceivers in NICT UWB consortium
2005 Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference Proceedings, 2005This article reports our activities in a UWB research and development consortium organized by the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology, Japan. We fabricated UWB RF front-end MMICs using 180nm CMOS technology for both of the multiband system and the impulse radio system.

Proceedings of the IEEE 2005 Custom Integrated Circuits Conference, 2005., 2006
This paper presents the design of UWB transceivers from both system-level and circuit-level perspectives. Following a detailed analysis of the impact of RF imperfections on the performance of the system, we review a number of transceiver and synthesizer architectures that can satisfy the MBOA UWB standard requirements.
