Stability Evaluation and Parametric Optimization of Coal‐Concrete Composite Bearing Systems Under Mine‐Water‐Induced Deterioration: Experiments and FEINN Analysis

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, Volume 14, Issue 8, Page 3697-3725, August 2026.
Mine‐water immersion tests reveal pronounced coal weakening (vs. minor concrete degradation), identifying coal pillars as the stability‐limiting component in composite dams. A coupled FEINN framework quantifies extreme‐pressure stability and ranks multi‐parameter designs via a normalized multi‐indicator scheme, enabling optimized dam configuration for ...

Probabilistic Hazard Assessment of Coseismic Elastic Surface Deformation for the Leech River Valley–Devil's Mountain Fault System Using Stochastic Source Modeling

open access: yesEarthquake Spectra, Volume 42, Issue 3, August 2026.
This study investigates the effect of incorporating the Devil's Mountain Fault (DMF) and its interaction with the Leech River Valley Fault (LRVF) on the elastic surface deformation hazard in and near the city of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. Previously, the surface deformation hazard of the region has been characterized by considering the LRVF ...

The Dilemma of Carbon‐Conscious Consumers: A Multi‐Study Investigation of Carbon Transparency in AI Use

open access: yesPsychology &Marketing, Volume 43, Issue 8, Page 1829-1844, August 2026.
ABSTRACT As artificial intelligence (AI) becomes embedded in everyday consumer services, it introduces ethical dilemmas that extend beyond fairness and privacy. One underexplored concern is the environmental cost of AI, particularly its carbon footprint.

A Hybrid Solid‐State Battery with a Panoramic‐Scale Stack of Bulk Electrodes and a Thin‐Film Electrolyte

open access: yesSmall, Volume 22, Issue 44, 7 August 2026.
A hybrid all‐solid‐state battery (ASSB) is implemented by integrating a thin‐film electrolyte on a bulk anode, and a thick cathode sheet. A densified anode substrate with suppressed porosity is prepared by cold pressing. Thin‐film electrolyte is fabricated onto the bulk substrate via co‐sputtering and infrared‐based rapid annealing.

Local Structural Signatures of Shear Bands in Metallic Glasses via Electron Nanodiffraction

open access: yesSmall Methods, Volume 10, Issue 15, 7 August 2026.
In this research, we employed scanning electron nano‐diffraction to investigate the local degree of centrosymmetry and structural anisotropy (strain) in deformed metallic glass. The study provides significant new insights into the deformation mechanisms of glassy materials, revealing the nature of local structural transformations and demonstrating how ...

Estimating Wind‐Power Capacity Time Series From Production Data Using a Power Curve Model and Quadratic Optimization

open access: yesWind Energy, Volume 29, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Accurate, time‐resolved installed capacity data are crucial for forecasting and analysing wind‐power production. The time series of installed capacity is often only approximately known in regions with rapid wind power development. Public wind power databases may only be updated yearly and installation dates may not be differentiated within ...
