Global, regional, and national incidence, prevalence, and years lived with disability for 354 diseases and injuries for 195 countries and territories, 1990–2017: a systematic analysis for the Global Burden of Disease Study 2017

open access: yesThe Lancet, 2018
Summary Background The Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk Factors Study 2017 (GBD 2017) includes a comprehensive assessment of incidence, prevalence, and years lived with disability (YLDs) for 354 causes in 195 countries and territories from ...

Direct 0D‐3D coupling of a lattice Boltzmann methodology for fluid–structure aortic flow simulations

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Biomedical Engineering, Volume 39, Issue 5, May 2023., 2023
This work presents a numerical approach and implementation for the direct coupling of arbitrary complex ODE‐governed 0D boundary conditions to 3D lattice Boltzmann based fluid‐structure systems for hemodynamics studies. Specifically, a nonlinear, nonstationary hybrid ODE‐Dirichlet system is applied to a scenario with a dynamic LV‐elastance heart model.

Global, regional, and national comparative risk assessment of 84 behavioural, environmental and occupational, and metabolic risks or clusters of risks for 195 countries and territories, 1990–2017: a systematic analysis for the Global Burden of Disease Study 2017

open access: yesThe Lancet, 2018
Summary Background The Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk Factors Study (GBD) 2017 comparative risk assessment (CRA) is a comprehensive approach to risk factor quantification that offers a useful tool for synthesising evidence on risks and ...

Contribution of socioeconomic factors to the variation in body-mass index in 58 low-income and middle-income countries: an econometric analysis of multilevel data

open access: yesThe Lancet Global Health, 2018
Summary: Background: Most epidemiological studies have not simultaneously quantified variance in health within and between populations. We aimed to estimate the extent to which basic socioeconomic factors contribute to variation in body-mass index (BMI)

Positive periodic solutions for multiparameter nonlinear differential systems with delays

open access: yesJournal of Inequalities and Applications, 2020
We establish several criteria for the existence of positive periodic solutions of the multi-parameter differential systems {u′(t)+a1(t)g1(u(t))u(t)=λb1(t)f(u(t−τ1(t)),v(t−ζ1(t))),v′(t)+a2(t)g2(v(t))v(t)=μb2(t)g(u(t−τ2(t)),v(t−ζ2(t))), $$\left ...

Synthesis, characterization and dyeing assessment of novel acid azo dyes and mordent acid azo dyes based on 2-hydroxy-4-methoxybenzophenone-5-sulfonic acid on wool and silk fabrics

open access: yesJournal of Saudi Chemical Society, 2011
Novel acid mono azo and mordent acid mono azo dyes were synthesized by the coupling of diazonium salt solution of different aromatic amines with 2-hydroxy-4-methoxybenzophenone-5-sulfonic acid. The resulting dyes were characterized by spectral techniques

Search for Z ' resonances decaying to t(t)over-bar in dilepton plus jets final states in pp collisions at root s=7 TeV

open access: yes, 2013
A search for resonances decaying to top quark-antiquark pairs is performed using a dilepton+jets data sample recorded by the CMS experiment at the LHC in pp collisions at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.0 inverse femtobarns.

Global, regional, and national disability-adjusted life-years (DALYs) for 359 diseases and injuries and healthy life expectancy (HALE) for 195 countries and territories, 1990–2017: a systematic analysis for the Global Burden of Disease Study 2017

open access: yesThe Lancet, 2018
Summary Background How long one lives, how many years of life are spent in good and poor health, and how the population’s state of health and leading causes of disability change over time all have implications for policy, planning, and provision of ...

Initiation of resuscitation with high tidal volumes causes cerebral hemodynamic disturbance, brain inflammation and injury in preterm lambs. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
AimsPreterm infants can be inadvertently exposed to high tidal volumes (V(T)) in the delivery room, causing lung inflammation and injury, but little is known about their effects on the brain. The aim of this study was to compare an initial 15 min of high

Synthesis and dyeing properties of new disazo disperse dyes for polyester and nylon fabrics

open access: yesJournal of Saudi Chemical Society, 2014
Diazotized aryl amines were coupled with two stenhouse salt namely, N-(5-phenylamino-penta-4-ol-2,4-diene-1-ylidene)anilines hydrochloride [S1 (RH) or S2 (ROH)] to furnish two series of disazo disperse dyes (S1D1–10 and S2D1–10).
