Vaca Muerta Corrosiveness and Its Impact in Production Strategy
Day 2 Tue, March 21, 2023, 2023AbstractThe complexity of the problem and the severity of corrosion found at certain fields of shale gas in Vaca Muerta made necessary to develop a program that included predictive analysis through semi-empirical corrosion-erosion models, comparison of materials through the installation of coupons in downhole wells and, finally, the execution of ...

Fracture Stratigraphy of the Vaca Muerta Formation
78th EAGE Conference and Exhibition 2016, 2016In shale reservoirs, where permeabilities are low, additional stimulation is required to ensure economic production (Warpinski et al., 2009). In the case of the Vaca Muerta shale in Argentina the mechanical behaviour of the rock as it relates to the ability of natural and induced fractures to sustain hydraulic conductivity pathways is considered the ...

From Exploration to Development: The Completion Evolution in Vaca Muerta
Day 1 Mon, March 20, 2023, 2023AbstractOperators in the Neuquén basin have developed Vaca Muerta with different results. In our case, it has gone from vertical exploratory wells, almost ten years ago, to a current development phase with multi-horizontal well PADs targeting different landings. During this period, many lessons have been learned and applied.

Diverse eucritic pebbles in the Vaca Muerta mesosiderite
Earth and Planetary Science Letters, 1987Seven 5-cm basaltic pebbles from the Vaca Muerta mesosiderite were studied by neutron activation and electron microprobe analysis, and three additional pebbles were studied petrographically. The cumulate pebbles had low REE concentrations and high Eu/Sm ratios, indicating the absence of intercumulus liquid.

Trends in Vaca Muerta Horizontal Wells Stimulation
SPE Latin America and Caribbean Petroleum Engineering Conference, 2017Abstract Until the recent crude and gas price decrease in late 2015, development in the Vaca Muerta shale experienced profitable production through improved methods, efficiency, and economics control. To combine public domain hydrocarbon production datasets with detailed proprietary drilling information, operators and ...

Optimism and Activity Rising in the Vaca Muerta
Journal of Petroleum Technology, 2017Optimism and Activity Rising in the Vaca Muerta Confidence in the geologic potential of Argentina’s unconventional resource plays is higher than ever, which is turning the focus to how and when oil and gas producers there will ramp up commercial levels of production.

Type Curves for Vaca Muerta Horizontal Wells
SPE Argentina Exploration and Production of Unconventional Resources Symposium, 2018Abstract The increasing number of drilled, completed, and produced horizontal wells in Vaca Muerta enables strengthening the generation of its type curves. The samples can be categorized by produced fluid, landing zone, and eventually by other criteria, reaching statistical significance and, thereby, enabling the preparation of type ...

An Engineered Approach to Hydraulically Fracture the Vaca Muerta Shale
SPE Hydraulic Fracturing Technology Conference and Exhibition, 2018Abstract In recent years, several papers have been published on the subject of rock properties, stress and permeability models in the Vaca Muerta unconventional formation, with the intention of understanding fractured well performance.
