The vacuole in yeast

Proceedings / Indian Academy of Sciences, 1956
1. The vacuole was studied under ordinary, phase contrast and dark ground illumination in yeast of varying ages. With the increasing age of the culture almost all cells appear vacuolated and more and more cells exhibit luminous contours to their vacuoles.

Isolation of Vacuoles and the Tonoplast

2016
Isolation of various subcellular compartments followed by a high-coverage proteomic analysis provides an unparalleled foundation for the functional analyses of proteins. Analyses of tonoplast preparations free of major contaminants provide insights into vesicular fusion machinery, solute transport, and the vacuole association with the cytoskeleton ...

Odontoblasts: Vacuoles and Inclusions

Science, 1961
Lipid granules have been found in the cytoplasm of odontoblasts and in the odontoblastic extensions within the dentinal tubules. It is suggested that these granules represent specific activity on the part of the normal cell as well as an increase in number after injury.

The Plasmodium Food Vacuole

2001
The Plasmodium food vacuole is a sophisticated organelle optimized for hemoglobin metabolism. It is the site of acidification, hemoglobin proteolysis, peptide transport, heme polymerization, detoxification of oxygen radicals, and quinoline action. A number of proteins that function in the food vacuole are known.
