Mycelium biomass and community composition impact nutrient concentration in arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi at fine spatial scale

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, EarlyView.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract The dynamic exchange of carbon (C) and nutrients between arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi and their host plants is crucial for shaping the spatial heterogeneity of nutrients within the hyphal network.

V‐ATPase Disassembly at the Yeast Lysosome‐Like Vacuole Is a Phenotypic Driver of Lysosome Dysfunction in Replicative Aging

open access: yesAging Cell, EarlyView.
H+‐translocating V‐ATPases are regulated by reversible disassembly in many cell types. In young yeast cells, V‐ATPases are assembled and the lysosome‐like vacuole is acidified, but as cells age, V‐ATPases disassemble, vacuolar pH increases, and lifespan is shortened. Both mutation of the V‐ATPase disassembly factor Oxr1 and caloric restriction preserve
