The universe on a table top: engineering quantum decay of a relativistic scalar field from a metastable vacuum

open access: yes, 2016
The quantum decay of a relativistic scalar field from a metastable state ("false vacuum decay") is a fundamental idea in quantum field theory and cosmology.

Long‐Term Efficacy of Immunotherapy in Autoimmune Autonomic Ganglionopathy—A 10‐Year Follow Up Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Autoimmune autonomic ganglionopathy (AAG) is a rare but potentially treatable cause of severe autonomic failure. Evidence guiding long‐term immunotherapy, treatment sequencing, and residual autonomic impairment is limited. We evaluated long‐term treatment response, residual autonomic dysfunction, and relapse patterns in patients with

Mechanochemical Synthesis and Characterization of Nanostructured ErB4 and NdB4 Rare‐Earth Tetraborides

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
ErB4 and NdB4 nanostructured powders are produced by mechanochemical synthesis. 5 h mechanical alloying and 4 M HCl acid leaching are used in the production. ErB4 and NdB4 powders exhibit maximum magnetization of 0.4726 emu g−1 accompanied with an antiferromagnetic‐to‐paramagnetic phase transition at about TN = 18 K and 0.132 emu g−1 with a maximum at ...

Research on High-Precision and Wide-Range Spacecraft Potential Measurement Method Based on Capacitive Voltage Division

open access: yesSensors
The charging and discharging of satellite surfaces induced by the space plasma environment constitute a primary cause of spacecraft anomalies, particularly in geosynchronous orbits subject to geomagnetic substorms and hot plasma injections from the ...

Thermoreflectance Detection of Point Defects Resulting from Focused Ion Beam Milling

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Focused ion beam (FIB) milling is a common tool for nanoscale material processing, however irradiation damage, redeposition, and contamination can occur. We use several characterization tools to show FIB‐induced effects beyond 1 mm from the milled area.

Nano-Pigment Cr2O3 Preparation from Chromium Slag by Alkaline Roasting, Water Leaching, Glucose Reduction and Vacuum Calcination

open access: yesMetals
Metallurgical chromium slag is a hazardous by-product generated during the production of chromium salts and metallic chromium, containing significant amounts of leachable Cr(VI), which poses severe environmental and human health risks.

Numerical studies of thermal comfort for semi-transparent building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV)-vacuum glazing system

open access: yesSolar Energy, 2019
Building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV)-vacuum system is promising for advanced window application due to its ability to reduce heat transfer, control over admitted solar heat and generates environmentally benign electricity.

The H 0 tension in light of vacuum dynamics in the universe [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Despite the outstanding achievements of modern cosmology, the classical dispute on the precise value of H 0 , which is the first ever parameter of modern cosmology and one of the prime parameters in the field, still goes on and on after over half a ...

Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

Study on an inverted pendulum thrust stand for electric propulsion with active thermal control

open access: yesAIP Advances
This work presents an active thermal control strategy based on the Peltier effect to mitigate thermal drift in micro-thrust measurements for electric propulsion (EP) systems.
