Effect of vacuum degree and aeration rate on sludge dewatering behavior with the aeration-vacuum method

Journal of Zhejiang University-SCIENCE A, 2010
Due to large-scale dredging operations, a large amount of sludge is inevitably produced. Large areas of land are occupied when the dredged sludge is discarded in the disposal site as waste material. The sludge dewatering with aeration-vacuum (SDAV) method is suit for treating the sludge with high water content and high clay content in the disposal site.

Dewatering of Fine Particles by a Buchner Vacuum Filtre

2002
Bu çalışmada, ince boyutlu tanelerin oluşturduğu su-katı karışımı palp vakum altında susuzlandırma deneylerine tabi tutulmuştur. Deneylerde, taş kömürü, antrasit ve mineral konsantreleri (kuvars, talk, çinko ve bakır) kullanılmış ve deney parametrelerinin (basınç, susuzlandırma süresi, tane boyutu, kek kalınlığı, kül içeriği, palp sıcaklığı ve mineral ...

Air Flow and Compression Work in Vacuum Dewatering of Paper

Drying Technology, 2013
Dewatering on the paper machine takes place by gravity, suction, pressing, and evaporation. Optimizing the operation of the vacuum system is important, since the electricity consumption of the vacuum pumps might be one-fifth of the total electricity consumption of the paper machine.

Predicting water removal during vacuum dewatering from fundamental fibre property data

Nordic Pulp & Paper Research Journal, 2015
Control of the solids content after vacuum dewatering is vital for efficient control and energy use of the paper machine. Dewatering is a complex function of many parameters such as fibre and pulp properties as well as settings on the paper machine and a predictive model for dewatering will require extensive and detailed studies of the occurring ...

Improvement of strength distribution inside slab concrete by vacuum dewatering method

Materials and Structures, 2007
The strength and hardness of concrete slab surface is considered significantly affected by bleeding of concrete. It has been reported that dewatering by vacuum processing is quite effective to obtain high density of concrete. The method, however, has not been successfully used for the concrete work in the field of building construction, compared with ...

Test Study on Dewatering Effect of Sewage Sludge by Vacuum Method

Advanced Materials Research, 2012
The aeration-vacuum dewatering method is a new kind of solid-liquid separate technique. The filter clogging problem in the routine vacuum dewatering procedure of sludge can be solved by the method. This method is used to dewater the sewage sludge in this paper.

Strength properties of vacuum-dewatered concrete

Experimental program is set up to study the effect of the vacuum dewatering process that accerates the rate of strength gain of concrete mixes, having the water-cement ratio and cement content as variables. The effect of the process on the mechanical properties of vacuum-dewatered concrete is also determined in comparison with those of the ...

Dewatering and strength characteristics of dredged slurry under curing-flocculation-vacuum filtration

Environmental Science and Pollution Research
Addressing the substantial yearly production of waste dredged slurry with high water content, it is imperative to adopt effective technical treatments for sustainable development. This paper establishes that the curing-flocculation-vacuum filtration (C-F-VF) method efficiently converts high-water content dredged slurry into back-fill soil, achieving ...

Rheological model for sludge dewatering with vacuum-assisted horizontal drains

Canadian Geotechnical Journal
Prefabricated horizontal drains (PHDs) are increasingly popular for vacuum dewatering of sludge with high water content. However, traditional consolidation models based on the principle of effective stress and Darcy’s law fail to capture solid–fluid interactions in the early dewatering stages given the absence of a soil skeleton.
