Laboratory tests on vacuum preloading and electro-osmotic consolidation of calcareous soft soil

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao, 2021
The calcareous soft soil mainly with fine particle content is distributed in the South China Sea and countries along the the Belt and Road. How to drain and consolidate is a subject worthy of study.

The effect of PVD layout on the consolidation characteristics of dredged slurry under vacuum preloading

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2023
Vacuum preloading coupled with prefabricated vertical drains (PVDs) has been widely used to improve the property of the dredged slurry. However, the effect of PVD layout on slurry consolidation characteristics remains poorly understood.

Enzyme‐Loaded Fe3+‐Modified Polydopamine Microparticles: Bioreactor Systems for Operating Biocatalytic Cascades, Enantioselective Transformations and Sensor Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Enzyme‐loaded Fe3+‐modified polydopamine microparticles (Fe3+‐PD) act as hybrid biocatalytic frameworks demonstrating NADH peroxidase‐mimic catalytic activities, operation of biocatalytic cascades in confined media, and enantioselective oxidation of D/L‐DOPA. ABSTRACT We report on the synthesis of Fe3+‐modified porous polydopamine microparticles acting

Study on drainage mechanism of complete path for vacuum preloading based on thermodynamics theory

open access: yesSoils and Foundations
Vacuum preloading has been a widely used consolidation method for soft clay ground improvement since the 1980s. Consolidation theory only explains the radial drainage process from soil to prefabricated vertical drains (PVD); however, the complete ...

Analysis of the Effectiveness of the Step Vacuum Preloading Method: A Case Study on High Clay Content Dredger Fill in Tianjin, China

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2020
As a solution to avoid the blockage of the drainage pipe by traditional vacuum preloading, step vacuum preloading (SVP) has been progressively studied. However, the effectiveness of this technique has yet to be systematically analyzed.

Real-Time Behaviour of Dredged Slurry Treated by Air-Booster Vacuum Consolidation

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
The air-booster vacuum preloading method has been applied to slurry ground improvement. It is based on the conventional vacuum preloading method but with an additional injection of pressurised air into the soil via pre-installed conductors.

Design and Characterization of a Two‐Dimensional Soft Array Based on Cooperative Dielectric Elastomer Actuators

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A fully polymeric two‐dimensional array of Dielectric Elastomers enables self‐sensing, cooperative actuation, and large‐stroke operation in a DE‐based autonomous conveyor. Based only on voltage and current measurements at actuator level, the system detects the presence of a ball and subsequently drives it toward a target position.

Meniscus‐Guided Interfacial Ring‐by‐Ring Assembly for In Situ Fabrication of Tubular Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A tubular hydrogel fabrication method leveraging the meniscus effect at the oil‐water interface is presented. UV irradiation across the concave surface of the photocurable hydrogel precursor induces the formation of ring‐like hydrogel structures. Sequential ring‐by‐ring assembly within microchannels enables the construction of arteriole‐scale hydrogel ...
