A new type of lead-in structure for vacuum-, gas-, or oil-tight chambers is described in which porcelain bushings are sealed to metal by means of a glass which serves as a bonding agency. The method of assembly is extremely simple, requiring no skilled workmen or elaborate equipment.

War time German vacuum tube research led to the development of metal-ceramic silver-soldered vacuum seals. It has been found that such seals can be made successfully with ceramic materials available in this country. The procedure is outlined, and some precautions are noted.

Sealing mechanisms in bakeable vacuum seals
Journal of Vacuum Science & Technology A: Vacuum, Surfaces, and Films, 1983Bakeable seals have to maintain their leak tightness during and despite repeated heating/cooling cycles. An analysis of the mechanisms by which the leak rate of demountable bakeable seals is maintained (or lost) is presented. The mechanisms are studied by following the evolution of the strain in the gasket and/or flange during heating/cooling, as ...

Wafer-Level Vacuum Sealing by Coining of Wire Bonded Gold Bumps
This paper reports on the investigation of a novel room-temperature vacuum sealing method based on compressing wire bonded gold bumps which are placed to partially overlap the access ports into the cavity. The bump compression, which is done under vacuum,

Vacuum sealing: indication, technique, and results
European Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery & Traumatology, 1995Vacuum sealing is a new therapeutic concept to achieve secure and rapid wound healing in traumatic soft tissue damage (incl.open and closed fractures), in acute and, as an intermediate measure, in chronic infections. The tissue defect is filled in with open-porous polyvinylalcohol-foam and the entire wound surface is covered with a semipermeable ...

Vacuum, 1952

Review of Scientific Instruments, 1963
A seal is described which permits rotation of large circular sections or ports in the walls of a vacuum chamber. The seal is an unlubricated Tec-Ring (a Teflon O-ring with a core of rubber), and the friction is low even at large diameters. The behavior of such a seal is compared with that of a lubricated Neoprene or Silastic O-ring. (D.L.C.)

Resume Normalement l'un des deux flasques d'un joint a vide dit ‘joint torique’ est muni d'une rainure recevant le tore elastique. Avec des rainures a section conventionelle il a ete trouve difficile de maintenir une pression et une retenu convenable du joint.
