Vacuum Swing Adsorption Process for Oxygen Production–-A Historical Perspective
Separation Science and Technology, 1996Adsorbent and cycle developments for the last 25 years have resulted in the advancement of vacuum swing adsorption processes for the production of oxygen from air, and in this review are traced and critically examined. The key criteria in the past developments and for future improvements are identified.

Simulation and analysis of vacuum pressure swing adsorption using the differential quadrature method
Computers & Chemical Engineering, 2019Abstract A lab-scale vacuum pressure swing adsorption process for oxygen production was investigated both experimentally and theoretically. The experiments were conducted with up to 91% purity and 17% recovery. A complete set of governing equations were solved and compared using the finite difference method (FDM) and differential quadrature method ...

Organic vapors emitted from solvents used in chemical and pharmaceutical processes, or from hydrocarbon fuel storage stations at oil terminals, can be efficiently captured by adsorption onto activated carbon beds. To recover vapors after the adsorption step, two modes of regeneration were selected and could be possibly combined: thermal desorption by ...

Vacuum swing adsorption on natural zeolites from tuffs in a prototype plant
Environmental Progress & Sustainable Energy, 2017A vacuum swing adsorption (VSA) prototype plant was developed and tested, based on natural zeolites from tuffs containing Chabazite. The regeneration procedure of natural zeolites was optimized, and the operative pressure resulted to be the most important parameter. The VSA prototype was fed for 3 months with a real biogas, produced by agrozootechnical

New 13X zeolite for propylene/propane separation by vacuum swing adsorption
Separation and Purification Technology, 2013Abstract Adsorption equilibrium isotherms for propane and propylene on a new 13X zeolite from CECA were measured at three temperatures (323, 373, 423 K) up to 5 bar. Maximum capacities of 3.47 and 3.08 mol/kg were found for propylene and propane, respectively. These values are significantly higher than those reported in literature.

Propylene/propane separation by vacuum swing adsorption using 13X zeolite
AIChE Journal, 2001AbstractA vacuum swing adsorption process using 13X zeolite pellets with five steps was designed to split an equimolar mixture of propylene/propane: pressurization with feed; high‐pressure feed; high‐pressure purge with product; cocurrent blowdown; and counter‐current vacuum blowdown, where the enriched propylene product is withdrawn.

Vacuum (pressure) swing adsorption (V(P)SA) has received considerable attention in the past decades. Existing studies typically estimate vacuum pump energy consumption using an approximate constant energy efficiency or an empirical energy efficiency correlation, leading to inaccurate representation of realistic vacuum pump performance.
