Vacuum-ultraviolet (λ < 200 nm) photodetector array

open access: yesPhotoniX
The vacuum-ultraviolet (VUV, 10–200 nm) imaging photodetector (PD) based on the wide bandgap semiconductor (WBGS) can realize a more detailed observation of solar storms than the silicon ones.

Dissociation of State-Selected Ions Studied by Fixed-Photon-Energy Double-Imaging Photoelectron Photoion Coincidence: Cases of O2+ and CH3F+

open access: yesPhyschem, 2022
This study presents the method of fixed-photon-energy double-imaging photoelectron photoion coincidence (i2PEPICO) utilized to investigate the dissociation of state-selected ions.

Designing Polymer Nanocomposites for X‐Ray Shielding: Mechanisms, Architectures, and Scalable Processing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This review highlights advances in lightweight, lead‐free polymer nanocomposites for diagnostic X‐ray shielding. By linking filler chemistry, dispersion, architecture, and photon interaction mechanisms, it establishes structure–performance relationships guiding material design.

A Dislocation Perspective on Strength and Toughness in Ceramics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Dislocations in ceramics enjoy a long but yet under‐appreciated history. The three research waves for dislocations in ceramics highlight the topic evolution over the last 90 years. This review focuses on the impact of dislocation on strength and toughness in ceramics.

Applications of Random Nonlinear Photonic Crystals Based on Strontium Tetraborate

open access: yesCrystals, 2012
Properties of strontium tetraborate (SBO) and features of as-grown anti-parallel domains are summarized. From the point of view of nonlinear optics, these domains form nonlinear photonic crystals (NPC).

Compatibility of Methacrylate Based Resins Controls Interfacial Failure and Toughness in 3D‐Printed Multimaterial Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work shows that the mechanical performance of multimaterial digital light processing (DLP) printed thermoset composites is governed by resin compatibility and interfacial design rather than spatial patterning alone. Brittle and ductile resin combinations produced premature interfacial failure, while graded interfaces and mechanically compatible ...

Constructing a finite tension domain wall in ϕ44

open access: yesNuclear Physics B
We have recently claimed that the domain wall in the 3+1 dimensional ϕ4 double-well model can be constructed as a squeezed, coherent state and that at one loop it has a finite tension given general, but unspecified, renormalization conditions.

Vacuum energy from noncommutative models

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2018
The vacuum energy is computed for a scalar field in a noncommutative background in several models of noncommutative geometry. One may expect that the noncommutativity introduces a natural cutoff on the ultraviolet divergences of field theory.

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

Biomass Native Structure Into Functional Carbon‐Based Catalysts for Fenton‐Like Reactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study indicates that eight biomasses with 2D flaky and 1D acicular structures influence surface O types, morphology, defects, N doping, sp2 C, and Co nanoparticles loading in three series of carbon, N‐doped carbon, and cobalt/graphitic carbon. This work identifies how these structural factors impact catalytic pathways, enhancing selective electron
