HYDROGEN MOLECULAR VACUUM ULTRAVIOLET LASER THEORY

Applied Physics Letters, 1968
Calculations indicate that within the Werner band of the H2 molecules laser action is possible at several spectral lines between 1025–1239 Å in a high current discharge with a risetime of a few nsec. The peak power densities are in the kilowatts cm−3 range per spectral line (for strong lines) with pulse half-width of less than 1 nsec.

Vacuum ultraviolet anti-Stokes Raman lasers

IEEE Journal of Quantum Electronics, 1986
Anti-Stokes Raman laser schemes in atomic sulphur and selenium are studied, allowing conversion of laser lines out of the 350- 178 nm range into the 200-130 nm range. The necessary population inversion with respect to the atomic metastable1S 0 levels is produced by photodissociation of the molecules COS and COSe with F 2 and ArF laser radiation ...

Vacuum-ultraviolet noble-gas dimer lasers

Soviet Journal of Quantum Electronics, 1976
An experimental investigation was made of the shape and intensity of light pulses emitted by an Xe2* laser excited by a relativistic electron beam. The results obtained were used to deduce the line profile and the gain in excited xenon. The authors suggest that the majority of the results obtained should be applicable also to other noble-gas dimer ...

Robust photodetector for vacuum ultraviolet laser light

Review of Scientific Instruments, 2004
An evacuated photocell including a pair of planar interdigitated electrodes fabricated on a sapphire substrate is proposed. Photocurrent in the photocell was found to be originated from both a photoemission effect on the gold cathode and an internal photoelectric effect in the sapphire substrate.

Efficient and practical hydrogen vacuum ultraviolet laser

IEEE Journal of Quantum Electronics, 1975
Investigations of the hydrogen vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) laser carried out in the Institute of Spectroscopy of the USSR Academy of Sciences are reviewed. Data for VUV TEA H 2 and D 2 lasers at gas pressure up to 2 atm and for low-pressure high-repetition rate hydrogen lasers axe presented. The upper limit quantum system efficiency for both gas dischaxge

Photosensitivity in glasses: comparing ultrafast lasers with vacuum-ultraviolet lasers

Technical Digest. Summaries of papers presented at the Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics. Postconference Technical Digest (IEEE Cat. No.01CH37170), 2001
Summary form only given. Laser microfabrication technology is a promising photonics processing approach with parallels to the current use of lasers in semiconductor lithography, trimming, repair, and inspection. To this end, our groups are exploring two extreme forefronts of laser technology - ultrafast (UF) and deep-ultraviolet (UV) lasers - to drive ...

Vacuum-ultraviolet anti-Stokes Raman laser with atomic selenium

Optics Letters, 1985
The achievement of anti-Stokes Raman-laser oscillation in atomic Se at 158.7 and 167.5 nm using pump-laser radiation at 199.5 and 254.8 nm is reported. The necessary population inversion between the (1)S(0) and lower (1)D(2) or (3)P states is achieved by photodissociation of COSe molecules with ArF-laser radiation.

Vacuum Ultraviolet Laser Spectroscopy of Small Molecules

1988
Publisher Summary This chapter presents a short coverage of various methods which have recently emerged with the advent of tunable coherent vacuum ultraviolet sources. Using lasers with sufficiently small pulse duration, time-of-flight spectrometers can also be particularly advantageous.

Refraction in a plasma and laser resonators for vacuum ultraviolet

Soviet Journal of Quantum Electronics, 1984
Characteristics of propagation of beams of rays are considered theoretically under conditions when their paths become bent as a result of smooth gradients of the electron density in a cylindrically expanding plasma. An estimate is obtained of the combined effects of refraction and diffraction and the case of strong predominance of refraction is ...

Vacuum ultraviolet laser dissociation and proteomic analysis of halogenated peptides

Chinese Journal of Chromatography
Chemical modifications are widely used in research fields such as quantitative proteomics and interaction analyses. Chemical-modification targets can be roughly divided into four categories, including those that integrate isotope labels for quantification purposes, probe the structures of proteins through covalent labeling or cross-linking, incorporate
