Modulating Two‐Photon Absorption in a Pyrene‐Based MOF Series: An In‐Depth Investigation of Structure–Property Relationships

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates H4TBAPy‐based metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) ‐ NU‐1000, NU‐901, SrTBAPy, and BaTBAPy ‐ for multiphoton absorption (MPA) performance. It observes topology‐dependent variations in the 2PA cross‐section, with BaTBAPy exhibiting the highest activity.

Wavelength switching and scanning of the high-gain harmonic generation free-electron laser at the Dalian Coherent Light Source

open access: yesPhysical Review Accelerators and Beams
The continuous wavelength tunability of free-electron lasers (FELs) offers significant potential for research across various scientific fields. The Dalian Coherent Light Source (DCLS), when operating in the high-gain harmonic generation (HGHG) mode, has ...

Tracking ground state Ba+ ions in an expanding laser–plasma plume using time-resolved vacuum ultraviolet photoionization imaging [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
We report results from a study of the integrated column density and expansion dynamics of ground-state-selected Ba+ ions in a laser–plasma plume using a new experimental system—VPIF (vacuum-ultraviolet photoabsorption imaging facility).

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

Controlling 229Th isomeric state population in a VUV transparent crystal

open access: yesNature Communications
The radioisotope thorium-229 (229Th) is renowned for its extraordinarily low-energy, long-lived nuclear first-excited state. This isomeric state can be excited by vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) lasers and 229Th has been proposed as a reference transition for ...

Near‐Infrared Emitting Lanthanide Catecholate Giant Single Crystals – Morphology Control and Photon Down‐Conversion

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Controlled syntheses of lanthanide coordination polymers based on the dihydroxybenzoquinone (DHBQ) organic linker afforded large single crystals of Ln‐DHBQ CPs (Ln = Yb, Nd). A novel structural variant of Yb‐DHBQ is identified by means of single crystal diffraction analysis.

Vacuum ultraviolet discharge excited lasers

open access: yes, 1987
The thesis concerns experimental studies of discharge excited lasers operating in the vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) region of the spectrum. The known molecular fluorine laser operating at 157nm, on a bound- to-bound transition of the F2 molecule was selected for initial study.

Modulating Electrochemical CO2 Reduction Pathways via Interfacial Electric Field

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Engineering interfacial electric fields in Cu/ITO electrodes enables precise control of CO2 reduction pathways. Charge transfer from Cu to ITO generates positively charged Cu species that steer selectivity from ethylene toward methane. This work demonstrates how interfacial electric‐field modulation can direct reaction intermediates and transform ...

Positive‐Tone Nanolithography of Antimony Trisulfide with Femtosecond Laser Wet‐Etching

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A butyldithiocarbamic acid (BDCA) etchant is used to fabricate various micro‐ and nanoscale structures on amorphous antimony trisulfide (a‐Sb2S3) thin film via femtosecond laser etching. Numerical analysis and experimental results elucidate the patterning mechanism on gold (reflective) and quartz (transmissive) substrates.
