Targeting KRAS Sensitizes Ferroptosis by Coordinately Regulating the TCA Cycle and Nrf2‐SLC7A11‐GPX4 Signaling in Hepatocellular Carcinoma

open access: yesSmart Medicine, Volume 4, Issue 2, June 2025.
Molecular target engagements and metabolic changes reveal that NSC48160 inhibits the progression of HCC through ferroptosis. NSC48160 elucidates the ferroptosis mechanism whereby it impedes KRAS and instigates the downregulation of Nrf2/SLC7A11/GPX4.

Semaglutide to remodel mitochondrial dynamics and mitophagy balance for vascular dementia therapy

open access: yesVIEW, Volume 6, Issue 3, June 2025.
The effects of semaglutide on IR, mitochondrial dynamics, and mitophagy in the hippocampus of BCAS mice after CCH. It was shown that semaglutide maintained the balance of mitochondrial dynamics and mitophagy by improving IR and passing through GLP‐1R/PI3K/Akt pathway, reduced hippocampal neuroinflammation and neuron loss, and thus promoted the recovery

Pump‐Induced Hemolysis of Speed Modulated Axial‐Flow Left Ventricular Assist Devices

open access: yesArtificial Organs, Volume 49, Issue 6, Page 988-996, June 2025.
Two Sputnik1 and two HeartMate2 axial‐flow LVADs were operated in hemolysis test benches under both constant speed and speed modulation modes (n = 7). One of the Sputnik1 pumps exhibited a statistically significant increase in hemolysis, while none of the HeartMate2 pumps showed statistically significant differences.

Peritoneal Dialysis in Patients Supported by Left Ventricular Assist Device

open access: yesArtificial Organs, Volume 49, Issue 6, Page 1062-1066, June 2025.
Peritoneal Dialysis (PD) has advantages over hemodialysis, including fewer infections and the comfort of the ambulant setting. This study illustrates that PD in LVAD patients is feasible and long‐term support up to several years is achievable without significant complications.
