Valanginian Weissert oceanic anoxic event

Geology, 2004
Biotic changes in nannofossils and radiolarians associated with the Valanginian δ 1 3 C anomaly are documented at Ocean Drilling Program Hole 1149B in the Pacific Ocean: they are coeval and similar to those previously documented in the Tethys, suggesting a global perturbation of marine ecosystems.

The Valanginian isotope event: A complex suite of palaeoenvironmental perturbations

Palaeogeography, Palaeoclimatology, Palaeoecology, 2011
Abstract The Valanginian records a severe crisis of carbonate systems, both on platforms and in the pelagic realm. This crisis is roughly concomitant with the Weissert Event, characterized by a positive δ13C excursion of about 2‰ in marine carbonates. However, it is unclear if the response of these two carbonate systems to the global perturbations is

The Berriasian–Valanginian boundary in the Mediterranean Province of the Tethyan Realm: Ammonite and calcareous nannofossil biostratigraphy of the Vergol section (Montbrun-les-Bains, SE France), candidate for the Valanginian GSSP

open access: yesCretaceous Research, 2021
The Vergol locality (Montbrun-les-Bains, South-East France), a candidate section for the Valanginian GSSP (Global Stratotype Section and Point), was studied in detail for ammonites and calcareous nannofossils.

A global palaeoclimatic reconstruction for the Valanginian based on clay mineralogical and geochemical data

open access: yesEarth-Science Reviews, 2020
High-resolution clay mineral and δ18Ocarb analyses have been performed on three sections of Valanginian age (Early Cretaceous), from northwestern (~20–30°N) and southern (~53°S) Tethyan realms.
