Deciphering the Origin of Higher Shell Coordination on Single Iron Catalysts for Resilient Modulating Persulfate Oxidation Into Singlet Oxygen Pathway

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 35, Issue 12, March 18, 2025.
This study reveals that higher shell S coordination can effectively modulate the spin state of FeN4 site via long‐range electronic interactions, giving rise to the oriented generation of singlet oxygen from peroxymonosulfate activation. Abstract Precise manipulation of coordination structure of single‐atom sites and establishment of schematic ...

Thermally Induced Gelling Systems Based on Patchy Polymeric Micelles

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 35, Issue 12, March 18, 2025.
A novel strategy to design thermally induced gelling systems with tunable material properties is reported. Polymeric mixed‐shell micelles displaying multiple thermosensitive patchy domains formed hydrogels by assembling into well‐entangled worm‐like network structures upon heating to body temperature. The patchy micelle design significantly affects the

Boosting photocatalytic performance in mixed-valence MIL-53 (Fe) by changing FeII/FeIII ratio.

open access: yesACS Applied Materials and Interfaces, 2019
One of vital issues that inhibits photoactivity of metal organic frameworks (MOFs) is the poor electrical conductivity. In this work, one-dimensional mixed-valence iron chains are used to improve this poor situation in MIL-53(Fe).

Valence ordering in the intermediate-valence magnet YbPd [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review B, 2013
An x-ray diffraction study reveals the valence-ordering structure in an intermediate-valence magnet YbPd with a CsCl structure. The valence of the Yb ions forms an incommensurate structure, characterized by the wave vector ($\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}$0.07 $\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}$0.07 1/2) below 130 K.

Ultra‐Fast Non‐Volatile Resistive Switching Devices with Over 512 Distinct and Stable Levels for Memory and Neuromorphic Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A materials and device design concept that comprises a self‐assembled ultra‐thin epitaxial ion‐transporting layer, an amorphous oxide overcoat oxygen‐blocking layer, and a partial filament formed during an electroforming step is proposed for low‐current multilevel resistive switching devices.

Valences in contextual vision

open access: yesVision Research, 2004
Elements in the neighborhood of a stimulus can modulate both the subjective perception of and the neural responses to this stimulus. Investigations of this contextual modulation usually focus on low level features such as the orientation difference between the target and its context.
