Increased-valence theory of valence

Journal of Chemical Education, 1968
Describes several "increased valence" formulas for molecular systems with one or more sets of pour electrons distributed among three atomic orbitals of three atoms.

Regulation by valences

1997
Valences are a very simple and yet powerful method of regulated rewriting. In this paper we give an overview on different aspects of this subject. We discuss closure properties of valence languages. It is shown that matrix grammars can be simulated by valence grammars over finite monoids.

Valence density functionals

Physical Review Letters, 1992
Since the inception of Density Functional Theory (DFT) the remarkable success of the Local Density Approximation (LDA) has been difficult to improve in a systematic way. Originally Hohenberg, Kohn and Sham introduced LDA as the first term in a gradient expansion of the exchange-correlation energy functional[1].

VALENCE: a program for calculating bond valences

Journal of Applied Crystallography, 1996
The DOS program VALENCE is designed to calculate bond valences from bond lengths and vice versa. It can also calculate bond-valence sums and average bond lengths, and can determine bond-valence parameters from the bonding environments of different cations.

For Valence

Emotion Review, 2009
In a provocative and important article, Robert Solomon argues that emotion researchers should abandon the notion of valence: it is used many different ways, and no single construct captures the pretheoretical distinction between positive and negative emotions.
