Issues, Policy Debates and Candidate Valence

2013
Any election is defined in part by the policies which attain salience as key decision points for undecided voters. Inevitably, the majority of voters will take the policy position of their favoured candidate through identification or ideological proximity.

The Role of Issue Valence and Issue Capability in Determining Effort Investment

Journal of Marketing Research, 2002
How decision makers invest their effort among various issues is critical to organizational success ( Ocasio 1997 ). The authors investigate the effects of issue valence and issue capability on how decision makers allocate effort to an issue. They develop hypotheses regarding these constructs and test them in three studies.

Reactivity and Lability Modulated by a Valence Electron Weaving in and out of the 25-Atom Gold Nanoclusters.

Angewandte Chemie, 2020
The ability to pursue heterogeneous catalysis or nanocatalysis at a single-electron level has been largely unsuccessful. The emergence of atomically precise metal nanoclusters with unique electronic structures provides access to currently inaccessible ...

Valence and surface modulated vanadium oxide nanowires as new high-energy and durable negative electrode for flexible asymmetric supercapacitors

Energy Storage Materials, 2019
Designing high-energy and durable negative electrode materials is highly desirable for advancing the performance of asymmetric supercapacitors (ASCs). The feasibility of vanadium oxides (VOx) as negative electrodes in ASCs has been revealed, but most of ...

The Two-State Issue in the Mixed-Valence Binuclear CuA Center in Cytochrome c Oxidase and N2O Reductase

Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2006
For the CuA site in the protein, sigmau* and piu are the ground and lowest energy excited-states, respectively. EPR data on CuA proteins show a low g parallel value of 2.19 which derives from spin-orbital coupling between sigmau* and piu which requires an energy gap between sigmau* and piu of 3000-4500 cm-1.

The inventory of emotions towards God (EtG): psychological valences and theological issues

An inventory that measures emotions towards God (EtG) proves to be valid. The inven tory consists of 16 items that cover emotions that subjects most likely experience in relation to God. The factorial structure of the inventory is described, and the inven tory is validated by exploring correlations with a number of conceptually close and remote ...

Electronic structure formed by Y2O3-doping in lithium position assists improvement of charging-voltage for high-nickel cathodes

Nature Communications
High-capacity power battery can be attained through the elevation of the cut-off voltage for LiNi0.83Co0.12Mn0.05O2 high-nickel material. Nevertheless, unstable lattice oxygen would be released during the lithium deep extraction.
