First Metatarsal Rotation in Hallux Valgus Deformity
Foot & Ankle International, 2021Rotation of the first metatarsal (M1) as a potential etiological factor of hallux valgus (HV) deformity was described relatively early in the description of HV pathoanatomy. However, because biplanar radiographs have been the standard method for imaging HV, clinicians primarily developed measurement methods and corrective operations confined to 2 ...

Correcting severe valgus deformity
The Bone & Joint Journal, 2017Valgus knee deformity can present a number of unique surgical challenges for the total knee arthroplasty (TKA) surgeon. Understanding the typical patterns of bone and soft-tissue pathology in the valgus arthritic knee is critical for appropriate surgical planning.

A discussion of the essential deformity in calcaneo-valgus feet develops a theme originally put forward in 1961 on the relapsed club foot (Evans 1961). Whereas in the normal foot the medial and lateral columns are about equal in length, in talipes equino-varus the lateral column is longer and in calcaneo-valgus shorter than the medial column.

Total Ankle Arthroplasty With Valgus Deformity
Foot & Ankle International, 2021Background: A substantial coronal plane deformity is common in the context of end-stage ankle osteoarthritis. Correction of Tibial Valgus Deformity
The Journal of Knee Surgery, 2017AbstractValgus tibial malalignment may be the result of bony deformity, previous lateral meniscectomy, or lateral plateau fractures. The correction of such a problem is usually addressed through a tibial osteotomy, which affects the alignment both in flexion and extension.
