Ketal Protection of Glycerol for Selective Electrosynthesis of Glyceric Acid in Highly Alkaline Media

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Using a ketal‐protected glycerol derivative (solketal) as the oxidation substrate enables site‐selective electrooxidation that suppresses C–C cleavage on non‐noble catalysts. Highly alkaline conditions promote reactive solketal alkoxide formation, weaken the Cα─H bond to facilitate dehydrogenation, and buffer local acidification, enabling a record‐high

Un documentaire sur le crime du « Lion d’Or ». Regards croisés sur la valorisation d’un patrimoine judiciaire sensible

open access: yesCriminocorpus
The documentary L’affaire du crime du ‘Lion d’Or’ (The ‘Lion d’Or’ crime case) was directed by Hervé Colombani. It is based on the work of three researchers (in legal history, the social history of homosexuality and the history of the body) on a judicial

A practical electrodialysis model for accelerating system development

open access: yesAIChE Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Empirical optimization of electrodialysis (ED) is dependent on repetitive experiments with incremental adjustments, which is cost prohibitive at scale. While models can reduce the costs associated with optimization and scale‐up, existing ED models are limited in application to specific use cases and tend to be developed for the exploration of ...

Enhanced Formation of Dicarboxylic Acids in the Catalytic Oxidation of Polyethylene With O2 and NOx

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
The oxidation of polyethylene in the presence of a mixture of O2 and NOx and with Cu2+/V5+ as catalyst yields ∼51 mol% diacids, while retaining ∼80 mol% of the carbon in the oil fraction. The developed method is robust and tolerates several polymer types as well as impurities.

Interpretable Short‐Term Electric Load Forecasting

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
A temporal fusion transformer is implemented to generate day‐ahead forecasts of the hourly electrical load of a departmentbuilding at an Italian university. A forecasting performance improvement of more than 25% compared with established benchmark models and a provision of inherent robust interpretability insights reveal the potential of this model for

CO2 as a Redox Shuttle Enables Photocatalytic Dehydrogenative Decarbonylation of Biomass‐Derived Alcohols to Light Alkanes

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A heterogeneous photocatalytic system has been developed that enables the dehydrogenative decarbonylation of primary alcohols under visible light using highly dispersed oxidic iron sites supported on aryl‐modified graphitic carbon nitride (Fe@f–gC3N4).

Avoidable food waste in the distribution sector: quantification and valorization

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural Engineering
Significant food waste occurs during distribution due to inefficiencies in handling, storage, and logistics. This research investigates food waste in the distribution sector, focusing on quantification and valorization, through three systematic ...

Blood SOD1 Activity in ALS Patients Receiving Tofersen Treatment

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Objective The antisense oligonucleotide tofersen is the first disease‐modifying drug for SOD1‐related amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and was approved because of its ability to reduce SOD1 protein and neurofilament levels. The effect of tofersen on SOD1 activity is unclear but of clinical relevance because homozygous SOD1 mutations, linked to ...

Natural Sunlight IR‐Driven Highly Efficient Synthesis of Acetaldehyde From Bioethanol Over Cu/Fe2O3

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
This work reports a Cu/Fe2O3 catalyst for the conversion of bioethanol into valuable acetaldehyde and green hydrogen under both infrared (IR) light and natural sunlight. This IR‐driven system sets a new performance benchmark, with TON and initial TOF enhanced by at least one order of magnitude, enabled by a constructed IR photon‐to‐phonon channel and ...
