Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

The Definition and Choice of Environmental Commodities for Nonmarket Valuation [PDF]

open access: yes
Economic analyses of nature must somehow define the “environmental commodities” to which values are attached. This paper articulates a set of principles to guide the choice and interpretation of nonmarket commodities.

Residual fields in valuation theory.

open access: yesMATHEMATICA SCANDINAVICA, 1985
It is shown that a valuation v of a field K is ''complete by stages'' (Ribenboim) or ''perfect'' (Krull) if and only if its residual fields are complete, where the residual fields of v are the fields \(A_ P/P\), where A is the valuation ring of v, P a nonmaximal prime ideal of A, furnished with the topology defined by the valuation induced by v, and ...

PICALM::MLLT10 translocated leukemia

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This comprehensive review of PICALM::MLLT10 translocated acute leukemia provides an in‐depth review of the structure and function of CALM, AF10, and the fusion oncoprotein (1). The multifaceted molecular mechanisms of oncogenesis, including nucleocytoplasmic shuttling (2), epigenetic modifications (3), and disruption of endocytosis (4), are then ...

Economic aspects of applying the cost approach to assessment of forest resources [PDF]

open access: yesBIO Web of Conferences
Precise and balanced economic evaluation of forest resources is considered as one of the vital conditions of their effective usage. The existing practice of forest resources valuation demonstrates huge gap between the overall evaluation theory and ...

Immediately algebraically closed fields

open access: yes, 2020
We consider two overlapping classes of fields, IAC and VAC, which are defined using valuation theory but which do not involve a distinguished valuation.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

Toward the Integration of Economics and Outdoor Recreation Management [PDF]

open access: yes, 1986
The general theme of this bulletin is that improved management of public-sector recreational resources is a multidisciplinary task. To this end, we attempt to integrate elements of outdoor recreation management theory and economics.
