Students Perspectives on Holistic Mentoring Practices in STEM Fields

open access: yesJournal Committed to Social Change on Race and Ethnicity, 2019
This critical multi-site case study examined the holistic mentoring practices provided by faculty to Students of Color in STEM fields at a predominantly White institution and a historically Black institution.

Some results of algebraic geometry over Henselian rank one valued fields [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We develop geometry of affine algebraic varieties in $$K^{n}$$Kn over Henselian rank one valued fields K of equicharacteristic zero. Several results are provided including: the projection $$K^{n} \times {\mathbb {P}}^{m}(K) \rightarrow K^{n}$$Kn×Pm(K)→Kn

Multiple ETS family transcription factors bind mutant p53 via distinct interaction regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mutant p53 gain‐of‐function is thought to be mediated by interaction with other transcription factors. We identify multiple ETS transcription factors that can bind mutant p53 and found that this interaction can be promoted by a PXXPP motif. ETS proteins that strongly bound mutant p53 were upregulated in ovarian cancer compared to ETS proteins that ...

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

A Noise-Acceptable ZNN for Computing Complex-Valued Time-Dependent Matrix Pseudoinverse

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
The issue of complex-valued time-dependent pseudoinverse often exists in science and engineering fields. In the existing studies, many models were presented for solving complex-valued time-dependent pseudoinverse in the noiseless environments.

Spherical-multipole analysis of an arbitrarily directed complex-source beam diffracted by an acoustically soft or hard circular cone [PDF]

open access: yesAdvances in Radio Science, 2015
An analytical approach to analyze the diffraction of an arbitrarily directed complex-source beam (CSB) by an acoustically soft or hard semi-infinite circular cone is presented.

Imaginaries and definable types in algebraically closed valued fields [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The text is based on notes from a class entitled {\em Model Theory of Berkovich Spaces}, given at the Hebrew University in the fall term of 2009, and retains the flavor of class notes.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Classification of Ordered Semigroups in Terms of Generalized Interval-Valued Fuzzy Interior Ideals

open access: yesJournal of Intelligent Systems, 2016
Several applied fields dealing with decision-making process may not be successfully modeled by ordinary fuzzy sets. In such a situation, the interval-valued fuzzy set theory is more applicable than the fuzzy set theory.

On valued function fields I

open access: yesManuscripta Mathematica, 1989
The authors study valued function fields, i.e. function fields of one variable with valuation on the constant field and a prolongation to the function fields such that the corresponding residue fields are again function fields in one variable. They introduce the vector space defect for a non-archimedean valued vector space over a valued field (which ...
