Influence of time in therapeutic range on postoperative complications in mechanical heart valve replacement patients operated with the indigenous TTK Chitra heart valve

open access: yesHeart Vessels and Transplantation
Objective: Valvular heart disease (VHD) patients after mechanical heart valve (MHV) replacement surgery require postoperative prophylactic anticoagulation to preclude the risk of thromboembolic events.

Tungsten Carbide Nanoparticles Embedded in Carbon Nanofoam Composites for Efficient Electrocatalytic Hydrogen Evolution

open access: yesAdvanced Energy and Sustainability Research, EarlyView.
A tungsten carbide nanoparticles/carbon nanofoam composite is presented as an efficient electrocatalysts towards hydrogen evolution reaction. The simultaneous ablation of tungsten and carbide via pulsed laser deposition results in homogeneous and dense dispersion of tungsten carbide particles in the carbon matrix.

Organic versus cosmetic efforts of the quality of carbon reporting by top New Zealand firms. Does market reward or penalise?

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, Volume 32, Issue 1, Page 686-703, January 2023., 2023
Abstract This study explores the quality of carbon reporting (QCR) by New Zealand (NZ) firms and its changes over time. It also explores the impact of QCR on the market reputation of firms. Using a sample of 300 company‐year observations between 2015 and 2020 from top listed firms of NZ, the study develops a 14‐item QCR index.

Energy Harvesting from CO2 Emission Exploiting Ionic Liquid‐Based Electrochemical Capacitor

open access: yesAdvanced Energy and Sustainability Research, EarlyView.
The concept proposes energy harvesting from CO2 emissions using ionic liquids (IL)‐based supercapacitor. By alternating CO2 and N2 gasses during electrode charging/discharging, the energy from salinity gradients is captured. ILs absorb CO2, altering electrode/IL interactions and generating electrical energy. This method introduces for the first time an

Cardiogenic Shock Due to Late Chimney Stent Failure Following Valve-in-Valve Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement

open access: yesJACC: Case Reports, 2019
Although the safety of valve-in-valve transcatheter aortic valve replacement has improved, coronary ostium obstruction remains a significant complication, with chimney stenting a possible solution to circumvent this complication. In this case, we discuss
