First Colombian tricuspid endovascular valve in valve using kissing balloon technique for failed bioprosthesis annular cracking

open access: yesRevista Colombiana de Cardiología, 2022
We present the first case in Colombia of tricuspid endovascular valve in valve for failed bioprosthesis in a 40-year-old patient with very high operative risk with great results, proposing kissing balloon annulus cracking technique as a practical ...

Outcomes after bioprosthetic versus mechanical mitral valve replacement for infective endocarditis in the United StatesCentral MessagePerspective

open access: yesJTCVS Open
Objective: In patients who underwent mitral valve replacement for infectious endocarditis, we evaluated the association of prosthesis choice with readmission rates and causes (the primary outcomes), as well as with in-hospital mortality, cost, and length

Technique and early outcomes of total thoracoscopic double-valve replacementCentral MessagePerspective

open access: yesJTCVS Techniques
Objective: Reports on aortic and mitral double-valve replacement through total thoracoscopy are scarce, with surgical techniques constantly evolving. We aimed to compare the feasibility and safety between total thoracoscopic double-valve replacement and ...

Quality of life after aortic valve repair is similar to Ross patients and superior to mechanical valve replacement: A cross-sectional study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Background: In patients after aortic valve surgery, the quality of life is hypothesized to be influenced by the type of the valve procedure. A cross-sectional study on the postoperative quality of life was carried out in patients after aortic valve ...

Minimally invasive aortic valve surgery [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Aortic valve disease is a prevalent disorder that affects approximately 2% of the general adult population. Surgical aortic valve replacement is the gold standard treatment for symptomatic patients.

Transjugular Tricuspid Valve-in-Valve Replacement [PDF]

open access: yesCirculation, 2011
The patient is a 38-year-old woman with rheumatic heart disease requiring surgery 21 years ago. She received a St. Jude mechanical prosthesis in the mitral position and a Carpentier-Edwards Perimount bioprosthesis (size 31) in the tricuspid position. Over the past 2 years, she has become progressively more short of breath with regular admissions for ...

A Case Report of Acute Heart Failure Due to Infective Aortic Endocarditis Diagnosed by Point-of-care Ultrasound [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Introduction: Infective endocarditis (IE) is a life-threatening condition with significant morbidity and mortality, and can require surgical repair.Case Report: A 36-year-old man presented to the emergency department for worsening dyspnea and chest pain.

High-sensitivity troponin I concentrations are a marker of an advanced hypertrophic response and adverse outcomes in patients with aortic stenosis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Aims: High-sensitivity cardiac troponin I (cTnI) assays hold promise in detecting the transition from hypertrophy to heart failure in aortic stenosis.

Handbook of Establishing and Maintaining Oxygen‐Free Atmospheres

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a practical framework for creating oxygen‐free atmospheres at ambient pressure using silane‐doped inert gases. The results show that ultra‐low oxygen levels and strongly reduced water content can be achieved through controlled silane dosing, drying systems, and sensor monitoring.

Left ventricular diastolic function in valvular aortic stenosis after aortic valve replacement [PDF]

open access: yesSrpski Arhiv za Celokupno Lekarstvo, 2002
In adults with significant sympthomatic aortic valve stenosis, aortic valve replacement is therapy of choice. Replacement of the diseased aortic valve with a prosthetic valve yields relief of left ventricular outflow obstruction.
