A Non‐Reciprocal Architected Porous Medium
ABSTRACT In several fluid flow, energy‐dumping, and energy‐harvesting applications, a dominant flow direction or dominant resistance direction is desirable. In this study, we propose a simple modular geometry that doubles flow resistance in one direction relative to the opposite direction, while maintaining laminar viscous flow.

Simulation and optimisation design of the solenoid valve
This study first analyses the problems that the solenoid valve generates during operation. Then the electromagnetic valve was modelled and ANSYS finite element analysis simulation software was used to simulate the electromagnetic field and transient ...

Cracking pressure control of parylene checkvalve using slanted tensile tethers [PDF]
MEMS check valves with fixed cracking pressures are important in micro-fluidic applications where the pressure, flow directions and flow rates all need to be carefully controlled.

ABSTRACT Traditional wearable exoskeletons rely on rigid structures, which limit comfort, flexibility, and everyday usability. This work introduces the fundamental technologies to create the first soft, lightweight, intelligent textile‐based exoskeletons (Texoskeletons) built using 1D sensors and actuators.

Behaviour of unimorph ring-shaped piezoelectric actuator in fluidic valve
This article focuses on the behaviour analysis of an unimorph ring-shaped piezoelectric plate that is used as an actuator in a fluidic valve. First, the system modelling is discussed by using the material mechanical properties of the piezoelectric plate ...

Our coaxial electrospinning system is capable of incorporating decellularized myocardial extracellular matrix in a core‐sheath configuration, creating nanofibrous scaffolds. These scaffolds, in turn, support the maintenance of functional cardiomyocytes adhered to the surface of these bioactive scaffolds.

Analysis of cavitation flow in conical throttle valve with different cone angle
Cavitation is a common phenomenon in industrial control valves, which has a strong influence on the internal flow. Herein, characteristics of cavitation flow inside conical throttle valve have been numerically analysed using a two-phase mixture model via

Pseudospin Electronics in Phosphorene Nanoribbons
Zigzag phosphorene nanoribbons are metallic owing to the edge states, whose energies are inside the gap and far from the bulk bands. We show that -- through electrical manipulation of edge states -- electron propagation can be restricted to one of the ...

A piezoelectric micropump based on micromachining of silicon [PDF]
The design and realization of two pumps based on micromachining of silicon are described. The pumps, which are of the reciprocating displacement type, comprise one or two pump chambers, a thin glass pump membrane actuated by a piezoelectric disc and ...
