Preserving the Surface Activity of Lung Surfactant Using Soft Nebulization

open access: yesSmall Science
Inhalable aerosols produced by nebulization offer a promising noninvasive route for lung drug delivery. Yet, high shear stresses during nebulization are highly detrimental to many complex biopharmaceuticals, such as lung surfactants, leading to ...

Determination of the Second Virial Coefficient for Binary Mixtures of Ar with CH4 and CO using Van der Waals and Dieterici Models [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Sciences, Islamic Republic of Iran, 2019
In this paper, we calculate the second virial coefficient for binary mixtures of Ar with CH4 and CO in order to evaluate the performance of equations of state (EOSs).

Stretching the Printability Metric in Direct‐Ink Writing with Highly Extensible Yield‐Stress Fluids

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces “drawability” as a new metric for assessing printability in direct‐ink writing, focusing on gap‐spanning performance and speed robustness. By designing yield‐stress fluids with high extensibility, we demonstrate that extensional strain‐to‐break significantly enhances printability.

DNA‐Templated 2D Heterostructures as Phototriggered Dynamic Nanohybrids: From Releasing Molecular Loads to Controlling Enzyme Biocatalytic Function

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
DNA strands are employed both as dynamic linkers and nanoscale templates for the integration of Ag2S nanoparticles on MoS2, which in turn imparted photothermal responsiveness; this feature permits the selective cargo (fluorophore, quantum dots or an enzyme) release from the MoS2 surface in response to local heat induced by light irradiation.

Momentum-dependent scaling exponents of nodal self-energies measured in strange metal cuprates and modelled using semi-holography

open access: yesNature Communications
The anomalous strange metal phase found in high-T c cuprates does not follow the conventional condensed-matter principles enshrined in the Fermi liquid and presents a great challenge for theory. Highly precise experimental determination of the electronic

Van der Waals Interactions and Exciton Condensation [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 1971
It is shown that the van der Waals interaction can lead at low temperatures to a condensed state of excitons with properties in qualitative agreement with the observations of exciton droplets. Our calculation gives a binding energy of the correct sign and magnitude for the exciton condensate.

Counterion Dependent Side‐Chain Relaxation Stiffens a Chemically Doped Thienothiophene Copolymer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Oxidation of a thienothiophene copolymer, p(g3TT‐T2), via different doping strategies and dopant molecules resulted in materials with similar oxidation levels and a high electrical conductivity of ≈100 S cm−1. However, mechanical properties varied significantly, with sub‐glass transition temperatures and elastic moduli spanning from –44°C to –3°C and ...

Intermediate Resistive State in Wafer‐Scale Vertical MoS2 Memristors Through Lateral Silver Filament Growth for Artificial Synapse Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In MOCVD MoS2 memristors, a current compliance‐regulated Ag filament mechanism is revealed. The filament ruptures spontaneously during volatile switching, while subsequent growth proceeds vertically through the MoS2 layers and then laterally along the van der Waals gaps during nonvolatile switching.

Emergent Topological Magnons and Thermal Hall Effect in 2D Filling‐Enforced Fully Compensated Ferrimagnets

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Schematic illustration of ferroelectric‐intercalation‐driven transitions in magnetic configurations and magnonic topological phases, together with the symmetry relations of magnonic Berry curvature. ABSTRACT Magnons in collinear magnets with vanishing net magnetization offer unique advantages for spin transport, including ultrafast dynamics and ...
