Thermo-Hydric Modeling of the Water Retention Curve Based on the Hydric Model of Van Genuchten
In this paper, we propose an extension for a model of unsaturated soils developed by Van Genuchten (1980) and obtain a thermos-hydric model to study the influence of temperature on the water retention curve. A brief presentation of the model is described using the independent parameter modeling method.

Hydraulic and Physical Properties of Managed and Intact Peatlands: Application of the Van Genuchten‐Mualem Models to Peat Soils [PDF]
AbstractUndisturbed peatlands are effective carbon sinks and provide a variety of ecosystem services. However, anthropogenic disturbances, especially land drainage, strongly alter peat soil properties and jeopardize the benefits of peatlands. The effects of disturbances should therefore be assessed and predicted.

Identifying a parameterisation of the soil water retention curve from on-ground GPR measurements [PDF]
We show the potential of on-ground Ground-Penetrating Radar (GPR) to identify the parameterisation of the soil water retention curve, i.e. its functional form, with a semi-quantitative analysis based on numerical simulations of the radar signal.

Spatial Variability of Soil Parameters of the van Genuchten Model at a Regional Scale [PDF]
Spatial heterogeneity of soil water retention curves (SWRC) plays an important role in modelling the movement of water and solutes in soils. To characterize the spatial variability of SWRC parameters fitted by the van Genuchten (VG) equation, and then identify factors that closely correlated with the VG parameters, we collected undisturbed and ...

Comparison Of Selected Pedotransfer Functions For The Determination Of Soil Water Retention Curves
Soil water retention curves were measured using a sandbox and the pressure plate extractor method on undisturbed soil samples from the Borská Lowland. The basic soil properties (e.g. soil texture, dry bulk density) of the samples were determined.

Validation and Modification of the Van Genuchten Model for Eroded Black Soil in Northeastern China [PDF]
The soil water characteristic curve is highly related to soil physical characteristics, which may be affected by the soil erosion degree. To explore the applicability of the soil moisture characteristic curve model in northeastern China, two erosion degrees, (1) lightly and (2) severely eroded black soil sampled from 15 sites, were collected.

Laboratory Method for Estimating Water Retention Properties of Unsaturated Soil
Soil hydraulic properties are necessary for modeling water flow and solute transport in the vadose zone. However, direct measurement of these characteristics in field conditions is tedious, time-consuming and expensive. In this study, a laboratory method
