The Vanadium Redox Flow Battery: an Asymptotic Perspective
SIAM Journal on Applied Mathematics, 2019Summary: Asymptotic methods are used to analyze a time-dependent two-dimensional (2D) model for the operation of a vanadium redox flow battery -- an energy storage technology that has attracted much attention recently. The model takes into account mass, momentum, and charge conservation involving a total of seven ionic species in two porous electrodes ...

Economics of vanadium redox flow battery membranes
Journal of Power Sources, 2015Abstract The membrane is a key component of the vanadium redox flow battery (VRFB) in terms of electrochemical performance as well as costs. The standard material Nafion ® is cost intensive and therefore several alternative materials are in the focus of research.

Vanadium redox reactions and carbon electrodes for vanadium redox flow battery
Electrochimica Acta, 1991The redox reactions of vanadium ions in sulfuric ,acid, which are used for anolyte and catholyte in a redox flow battery, have been investigated on a GRC (graphite reinforcement carbon) electrode. Two types of carbon fiber electrodes (GF-20 and BW-309) have been evaluated for the battery electrode.
