A Middleware Family for VANETs

2009
Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks are an important application domain of ubiquitous computing and Wireless Sensor Networks are a key technology for enabling such applications. The development of ubiquitous applications poses challenges as dealing with the low-level programming abstractions and the heterogeneity of hardware and software.

A probabilistic routing protocol in VANET

Proceedings of the 7th International Conference on Advances in Mobile Computing and Multimedia, 2009
The key attribute that distinguishes Vehicular Ad hoc Networks (VANET) from Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANET) is scale. While MANET networks involve up to one hundred nodes and are short lived, being deployed in support of special-purpose operations, VANET networks involve millions of vehicles on thousands of kilometers of highways and city streets. Being

DIVA - Digital Identity in VANETs: A multi-authority framework for VANETs

2013 19th IEEE International Conference on Networks (ICON), 2013
Vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) are the future of vehicular technology and Traffic Information Systems. The most important issue being looked into VANETs nowadays is that of security and privacy of vehicles and users. The current and past research has focused on using or securing the identity of vehicles in the network.

Vehicle localization enhancement with VANETs

2014 IEEE Intelligent Vehicles Symposium Proceedings, 2014
This paper presents an assisted system for vehicle localization and map-matching by utilizing Vehicle ad-hoc Networks (VANETs). Fusion of the GNSS and odometer measurement is augmented by ranging distance. Ranging is computed by exchanging the data packets between the vehicular nodes equipped with Dedicated Short Range Communication (DSRC) modem and ...

Modeling in-network aggregation in VANETs

IEEE Communications Magazine, 2011
The multitude of applications envisioned for vehicular ad hoc networks requires efficient communication and dissemination mechanisms to prevent network congestion. In-network data aggregation promises to reduce bandwidth requirements and enable scalability in large vehicular networks.

Mechanism for Privacy Preservation in VANETS

International Journal of Grid and High Performance Computing, 2010
This paper proposes a mechanism for sustaining privacy of a vehicle in a vehicular ad hoc network (VANET) through pseudonym update. In a VANET, vehicles on the road are involved in dissemination of information as they move. An association can be formed between the physical location of the source vehicle and the transmitted messages.

Clustering In VANETs

2010
Mobile networks in compared to wired networks have unique characteristics. In mobile networks, frequent network topology changes may bring about by node mobility, which are rare in wired networks. In contrast to the stable link capacity of wired networks, wireless link capacity continually varies because of the impacts from transmission power, receiver

Optimal assessments in VANET: The Oracle

2010 IFIP Wireless Days, 2010
We discuss the accuracy of a mechanism, called Oracle, to assess position and transmission ranges in VANET. We prove that, in the best case, the assessments of the oracle are exact. Moreover, we prove that the average case of the Oracle coincides with its best case. Therefore the Oracle is optimal.

VERGILIUS: A Scenario Generator for VANET

2010 IEEE 71st Vehicular Technology Conference, 2010
Vehicular networks are on the fast track to become a reality either through a car manufacturer that introduces a communication device in the car electronics or through an aftermarket vendor such a GPS navigator or a in-vehicle entertainment system. This paper introduces VERGILIUS a nouvelle urban mobility and propagation toolbox designed to streamline ...
