Initial Stage of Vapor−Liquid−Solid Growth of Si Nanowires

open access: yes, 2016
The initial stage of gold (Au)-catalyzed vapor−liquid−solid (VLS) growth of Si nanowires (SiNWs) was studied by transmission electron microscope (TEM) and atomic force microscope (AFM).

Combinatorial growth of Si nanoribbons

open access: yesNanoscale Research Letters, 2011
Silicon nanoribbons (Si NRs) with a thickness of about 30 nm and a width up to a few micrometers were synthesized. Systematic observations indicate that Si NRs evolve via the following sequences: the growth of basal nanowires assisted with a Pt catalyst ...

Designing Vanadium‐Based Oxide Electrocatalysts for Water Splitting: Experimental and Mechanistic Insights with Machine Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review establishes structure‐property‐mechanism relationships across six modification strategies for V‐based oxide water‐splitting electrocatalysts: lattice engineering, heteroatom doping, interface engineering, carbon‐based hybridization, morphology engineering, and surface reconstruction and pre‐catalyst design, where dissolution is reframed as ...

Width-dependent continuous growth of atomically thin quantum nanoribbons from nanoalloy seeds in chalcogen vapor

open access: yesNature Communications
Nanoribbons (NRs) of atomic layer transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) can boost the rapidly emerging field of quantum materials owing to their width-dependent phases and electronic properties.

Upcycling Keratin‐Based Textile Waste Into High‐Performance Hybrid Fibers Via Tuning the Interfacial Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Keratin recovered from animal‐hair textile waste is fractionated and blended with cellulose to produce continuously spun hybrid fibers. Selecting the high‐molecular‐weight keratin fraction enables 30 wt.% keratin incorporation while maintaining high strength in dry and wet states.

Acetoacetates Derived From Vegetable Oils: A Platform for Tailor‐Made Vinylogous Urethane Foams

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A renewable vegetable oil is converted into acetoacetate‐functionalized precursors for the preparation of catalyst‐free vinylogous urethane foams. Room‐temperature foaming with n‐pentane generates lightweight cellular materials, while the choice of amine enables control over foam structure and mechanical properties.

Photo‐Degradable Polyester Networks and Multi‐Photon Printed Objects Based on Cyclic Ketene Acetals

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The current work introduces a photoreversible polyester network derived from radical ring‐opening polymerization of cyclic ketene acetals. It combines photoreversible cross‐linking with initiator‐free multi‐photon printing. Reversible network formation, tunable mechanical properties, and selective degradation highlight its potential as a versatile ...
