A More Accurate Prediction of Liquid Evaporation Flux [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Chemistry & Chemical Engineering, 2004
In this work, a more accurate prediction of liquid evaporation flux has been achieved. The statistical rate theory approach, which is recently introduced by Ward and Fang and exact estimation of vapor pressure in the layer adjacent to the liquid–vapor ...

Raoult's Formalism in Understanding Low Temperature Growth of GaN Nanowires using Binary Precursor

open access: yes, 2015
Growth of GaN nanowires are carried out via metal initiated vapor-liquid-solid mechanism, with Au as the catalyst. In chemical vapour deposition technique, GaN nanowires are usually grown at high temperatures in the range of 900-1100 ^oC because of low ...

Study program to develop and evaluate die and container materials for the growth of silicon ribbons [PDF]

open access: yes, 1979
The development and evaluation of proprietary coatings of pure silicon carbide, silicon nitride, and aluminum nitride on less pure hot pressed substrates of the respective ceramic materials, is described.

A Systematic Comparison of Alpha‐Synuclein Seed Amplification Assays for Increasing Reproducibility

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Seed amplification assays (SAAs) enable ultrasensitive detection of misfolded α‐synuclein across biofluids and tissues. Yet, heterogeneity in protocols limits cross‐study comparability and clinical translation. Here, we review α‐synuclein SAA methods and their performance across various biological matrices.

Thermoreflectance Detection of Point Defects Resulting from Focused Ion Beam Milling

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Focused ion beam (FIB) milling is a common tool for nanoscale material processing, however irradiation damage, redeposition, and contamination can occur. We use several characterization tools to show FIB‐induced effects beyond 1 mm from the milled area.

A note on integrating the Clapeyron equation without neglecting the specific fluid volume

open access: yesAtmospheric Science Letters, 2023
Under certain approximations, the Clapeyron equation can be integrated to yield a simple exponential relation giving the saturation vapor pressure over a condensed phase as a function of temperature.

Low‐Cost, Large‐Scale Nanoporous Metals by Mechanical Alloying, Oxide Reduction, and Dealloying of Powders

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Powder metal processing provides scalable advantages in nanoporous (np) metal development. Mechanical alloying is used to produce unique precursors for hybrid nanopore formation by oxide reduction and dealloying. As demonstrated in np Ag, this approach improves process efficiency while promoting smaller ligaments and larger pores, both of which are ...

A new technique for monitoring the water vapor in the atmosphere [PDF]

open access: yes, 1984
In the correction of satellite Doppler data for tropospheric effects the precipitable water vapor (PWV) is inferred at the tracking site. The technique depends on: (1) an ephemeris for the satellite; (2) an analytic model for the refraction range effect ...

Planar Solid‐State Nanopores Toward Scalable Nanofluidic Integration Based on CMOS Technology

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We present a scalable silicon‐based fabrication strategy for planar solid‐state nanopores to enable their integration with complex nanofluidic systems. Prototype devices demonstrate normal voltage‐current characteristics, good noise performance, and appreciable streaming currents. Our CMOS‐compatible fabrication process offers precise geometric control

Volatilization Behavior of Manganese from Molten Steel with Different Alloying Methods in Vacuum

open access: yesMetals, 2020
The volatilization loss of manganese during the vacuum smelting process is one of the key factors that determines the manufacturing cost and quality of manganese steel.
