Unravelling polyphenol skin permeation: A comparative study using full‐thickness 3D in vitro and ex vivo human skin models

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cosmetic Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that full‐thickness 3D in vitro skin models reliably assess the permeation of cosmetic polyphenols, revealing compound‐specific transport profiles and bridging the gap between conventional cell models and ex vivo human skin, while offering an ethical and robust alternative for dermal absorption screening. Abstract The evaluation

Bakuchiol: From structural mimicry to systems‐level skin biology

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cosmetic Science, EarlyView.
Convergent outcomes, divergent mechanisms: bakuchiol vs. retinol. Bakuchiol exhibits functional convergence with retinol in improving extracellular matrix integrity, epidermal differentiation and barrier function, while operating through distinct mechanisms.

A physiologically relevant in vitro screening model for predictive assessment of foundation colour shift

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cosmetic Science, EarlyView.
A novel airbrush‐based in vitro sebum secretion model enables predictive assessment of foundation colour shift. Artificial sebum was applied at a physiologically relevant amount and 3 h post‐foundation application. Our results showed strong alignment with consumer perception and revealed the dominance of drying‐phase dynamics in foundation colour shift.
