A wide tuning range gated varactor [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Solid-State Circuits, 2000
A wide tuning range gated varactor for radio frequency (RF) applications is described in this paper. The gated varactor is a three-terminal device. The third terminal helps achieve an improved tuning range. The measured tuning range of the varactor exceeds /spl plusmn/50%.

Stability of varactor circuits

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 1994
Chaotic instability of a varactor circuit with a quasiperiodic excitation is studied. It is shown that, compared to single frequency forcing, a quasiperiodic input, such as an amplitude modulated signal, causes a considerable drop in the threshold for chaotic onset. Analytical conditions for chaos to arise are also obtained.

Harmonic Generation by Nondegenerate P-N Junction Varactor Diodes [PDF]

open access: yesActive and Passive Electronic Components, 1997
This paper deals with the large-signal analysis of nondegenerate p-n junction varactor diodes. Expressions are obtained for the harmonics of the varactor diode current when driven by a sinusoidal voltage signal. The special case of relatively small input

Multifunctional Programmable Transmissive Metasurface with Phase and Amplitude Manipulation Capability. [PDF]

open access: yesAdv Sci (Weinh)
This work provides a multifunctional programmable transmissive metasurface with phase and amplitude manipulation capability in the sub‐6G band. By applying different coding strategies, the proposed metasurface can realize vortex beam generation, holographic imaging under phase coding mode, and multi‐beam forming in phase‐amplitude joint coding mode ...

Tuning Patch-Form FSS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The application of a novel biasing technique to tune frequency selective surfaces (FSS) made of patch elements is described. The methodology follows a recently developed technique where the biasing circuit of an active FSS is etched at the rear of a ...

A High-Temperature Superconducting Bandpass Dual-Mode Filter with Tunable Relative Bandwidth and Center Frequency

open access: yesSensors, 2023
This study proposes a high-temperature superconducting (HTS) bandpass filter with a continuously tunable bandwidth and center frequency. The proposed filter combines several gallium arsenide varactors and a dual-mode resonator (DMR).

Design and characterization of SiC varactor-based phase shifters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Design and realization of two continuously tunable phase shifters for 1.4 GHz band is presented. Both circuits are based on SiC varactors, conceived to enable high-voltage, high-power operation, and suitable for application in the transmitter chain of ...

Proof-of-Concept on Misalignment Compensation for 5.8-GHz-Band Reflectarray Antennas by Varactor Diodes

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
Membrane reflectarray antennas with flexible support structures realize low weight and low stowage volume. However, deformation of the reflectarray membrane generally degrades antenna gain. We propose electrical misalignment compensation for 5.8-GHz-band
