Variable Frequency Drive

SSRN Electronic Journal, 2019
This paper contains the discussion for control the speed of an Induction motor it means that varying frequency and voltage accordingly that converts its fixed frequency into variable frequency and fixed voltage to variable voltage which are using to control speed of an IM. Induction motors are extended used in Industry area or in-home appliances.

Variable Frequency Drives and Power Factor

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 1985
Variable frequency drives are being used in many applications which were previously fixed speed induction motor applications. The predominant ones are centrifugal pumps and fans where substantial energy savings can be realized with adjustable speed operation.

Fuzzy Logic Controlled Variable Frequency Drives

2018
In this paper, a fuzzy-based PWM controller has been proposed for performance and efficiency enhancement in variable frequency drives (VFD). The VFDs are used for controlling operation of induction motors which are generally nonlinear in nature. The nonlinear loads are major cause of harmonics in the power supply and needs attention.

Mechanical Vibration Problems With Variable Frequency Drives

Volume 2: Integrity and Corrosion; Offshore Issues; Pipeline Automation and Measurement; Rotating Equipment, 2000
Variable frequency drives are now frequently used to power large horsepower pipeline pumps to eliminate power costs wasted by throttling, to reduce inrush current on motor start, and to provide greater operating flexibility. This variable speed operation, however, can cause vibration problems in the pump and motor bearings, and in the couplings that ...
