Surface fatigue crack growth under variable amplitude loading

Engineering Fracture Mechanics, 2020
Plasticity-induced fatigue crack closure plays an important role in fatigue crack growth. Under fatigue loading with variable amplitude, however, the influence of fatigue crack closure along the crack front in three-dimensional cracked bodies is ...

Combined peridynamics and kinetic theory of fracture for fatigue failure of composites under constant and variable amplitude loading

, 2020
This study presents a fatigue model for constant and variable amplitude cyclic loading by combining kinetic theory of fracture (KTF) with peridynamics (PD).

Variable Amplitude Fatigue

2013
Fatigue crack growth behavior of selected aluminum alloys under variable amplitude loading is discussed in this study, based principally on experimental observations. The tests include single overloads tests in different environments, block load tests and tests using an aircraft wing loading spectrum.

Variable amplitude vibratory apparatus

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1983
A vibratory apparatus comprises a shaft mounted for rotation about an axis and having weight structure mounted thereon to effect vibration in response to shaft rotation. The shaft may be initially balanced or unbalanced. According to a first series of embodiments, secondary movable weight structure is mounted on the shaft for outward movement against ...

Small-amplitude red variables

Experimental Astronomy, 1994
The status of photometric monitoring of small amplitude red variables is reviewed. Many of these stars are M type giants, but recently the search has been extended to K type giants.

On the Pulsation Amplitude of Cepheid Variables

Astrophysics and Space Science, 1972
On the basis of more abundant data a relation logPΔV/logΔR for cepheid variables (Fernie, 1965) is constructed. A linear relation between logP ΔV and logΔR for classical cepheids is found, which perhaps has a break at ΔR=10R ⊙. On the logΔR/logP diagram thes-cepheids (Efremov, 1968) show a distinct sequence.

Variable amplitude vibration generator

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1983
A variable amplitude vibration generator especially adapted for use with compacting machines in which a primary weight is eccentrically fixed to a power driven rotatably mounted shaft and a secondary weight eccentrically freely rotatably mounted on the shaft is releasably securable to the shaft by activating a remotely controllable detent connection ...

QRS Amplitude and Shape Variability in Magnetocardiograms

Pacing and Clinical Electrophysiology, 2000
In magnetocardiography, averaging of QRS complexes is often used to improve the signal‐to‐noise ratio. However, averaging of QRS complexes ignores the variation in amplitude and shape of the signals caused, for example, by respiration. This may lead to suppression of signal portions within the QRS complexes.

Variable Colour-Amplitude Phase-Contrast Microscopy

Nature, 1949
SEVERAL variable phase-contrast systems have been described. Most of these make use of polarized light in order to obtain variation of phase or amplitude, or both1. An experimental microscope has been constructed by Messrs. Cooke, Troughton and Simms, Ltd., which allows the operator to obtain positive or negative phase-contrast at will, and to control ...

Actuator stiction compensation via variable amplitude pulses

ISA Transactions, 2018
A novel model free stiction compensation scheme is developed which eliminates the oscillations and also reduces valve movement, allowing good setpoint tracking and disturbance rejection. Pulses with varying amplitude are added to the controller output to overcome stiction and when the error becomes smaller than a specified limit, the compensation ...
