Durability assessment of automotive structures under random variable amplitude loading

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2018
Durability assessment is essential for assuring the reliability and safety of automotive structures, which subjects to complex random variable amplitude loadings.

Fatigue crack propagation characteristics of rubbery materials under variable amplitude loading

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2018
Fatigue failure is a critical issue frequently encountered by the rubber components in service. In this work fatigue crack propagation experiments with an edge-notched pure shear specimen under variable amplitude loading, which brings effectiveness in ...

Evolution of solitary waves and undular bores in shallow-water flows over a gradual slope with bottom friction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
This paper considers the propagation of shallow-water solitary and nonlinear periodic waves over a gradual slope with bottom friction in the framework of a variable-coefficient Korteweg-de Vries equation.

Experimental Study and Life Prediction of Bolt Loosening Life under Variable Amplitude Vibration

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2019
The transverse vibration test of bolts has been designed with adoption of the fatigue tester to study the features of the loosening life of bolts. Firstly, the transverse vibration frequency has been changed, the effects of the amplitudes of displacement,

Adult‐Onset Subacute Sclerosing Panencephalitis Presenting With Subacute Cognitive Deficits

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We describe the case of a 41‐year‐old man diagnosed with adult‐onset subacute sclerosing panencephalitis (SSPE). The patient presented with subacute progressive cognitive deficits and a neuropsychological profile indicating predominant frontoparietal dysfunction. MRI showed only mild parietal‐predominant cerebral atrophy.

Separate Universes Do Not Constrain Primordial Black Hole Formation

open access: yes, 2011
Carr and Hawking showed that the proper size of a spherical overdense region surrounded by a flat FRW universe cannot be arbitrarily large as otherwise the region would close up on itself and become a separate universe.

Oscillator Models of the Solar Cycle and the Waldmeier Effect [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We study the behaviour of the van der Pol oscillator when either its damping parameter $\mu$ or its nonlinearity parameter $\xi$ is subject to additive or multiplicative random noise.

Clinically Relevant Outcome Measures in Women With Adrenoleukodystrophy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Adrenoleukodystrophy is a rare inherited peroxisomal disease caused by pathogenic variants in the ABCD1 gene located on the X chromosome. Although the most severe central nervous system and adrenal complications typically affect only men with adrenoleukodystrophy, the majority of women develop myeloneuropathy symptoms in adulthood.

Evidence of New Magnetic Transitions in Late-Type Dwarfs from Gaia DR2 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The second Gaia data release contains the identification of 147 535 low-mass ($\le 1.4 M_{\odot}$) rotational modulation variable candidates on (or close to) the main sequence, together with their rotation period and modulation amplitude.
