The relative importance of import decision variables
Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, 1983This is an empirically examined study which explores the purchasing behavior of U.S. import managers by identifying and measuring the use of import decision variables. The study finding supports for the hypothesized relationships between the import decision variables managers use and the countries from which they import.

Variable importance in latent variable regression models
Journal of Chemometrics, 2014The quality and practical usefulness of a regression model are a function of both interpretability and prediction performance. This work presents some new graphical tools for improved interpretation of latent variable regression models that can also assist in improved algorithms for variable selection.

TIME—AN IMPORTANT VARIABLE IN NORMAL DELIVERY
BJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, 1973SummaryA controlled study showed that speeding birth increased umbilical artery and vein blood pH, most probably by reducing fetal asphyxia. The methods used to speed delivery were simple and were readily applied to a predominantly migrant population. The umbilical artery blood p H in the fast group was significantly higher than in six of seven studies

Effects of the EEC's Variable Import Levies
Journal of Political Economy, 1980The mechanics of variable import levies, as used by the EEC for agricultural products, are analyzed. Attention is paid to their destabilizing effects on world markets and to the way in which they can capture not only economic rent associated with trade restrictions but also the subsidy payments of exporting countries.

Variables importance in questionnaire data on advertising
Expert Systems with Applications, 2011Abstract In this article, we deal with the problem of measuring the importance of features, that determine the purchase of the product after being exposed to an advertisement. We use an algorithm called Monte Carlo feature selection, which is based on multiple usage of decision trees, to achieve a ranking of variables from the questionnaire data. Our

The importance of blood pressure variability in hypertension
Blood Pressure Monitoring, 2000Use of ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) techniques has revealed that blood pressure is characterized by a considerable degree of variability over a 24 h period as a result, not only of the well-known fluctuations that occur between wakefulness and sleep, but also of the minute-to-minute changes induced by a variety of behavioural conditions.

Perimetric variability: Importance of criterion level
Documenta Ophthalmologica, 1988Perimetry suffers from considerable variability of results. A new technique for estimating individual criterion levels in normal subjects exposes the important role of psychological variables. The analysis depends on features peculiar to acuity perimetry. It can be accommodated in the regular examination.

The Importance of Socioeconomic Variables
1996So far in the book, we have mainly estimated elasticities based on aggregate time-series data. In Chapter 9 we also applied household data, but the micro model used there only allowed a limited amount of taste variation across households. That model, for example, neglected any interaction between economic and socioeconomic variables, and assumed ...

Variable importance assessment in sliced inverse regression for variable selection
Communications in Statistics - Simulation and Computation, 2017The focus is on treating the relationship between a dependent variable $y$ and a $p$-dimensional covariate $x$ in a semiparametric regression model. Since the purpose of most social, biological or environmental science research is the explanation, the determination of the importance of the variables is a major concern.
