Computerized system for translating a torch head [PDF]
The system provides a constant travel speed along a contoured workpiece. It has a driven skate characterized by an elongated bed, with a pair of independently pivoted trucks connected to the bed for support. The trucks are mounted on a contoured track of

Feasibility of a Simple Small Wind Turbine with Variable-Speed Regulation Made of Commercial Components [PDF]
The aim of this study was to propose and evaluate a very small wind turbine (VSWT) that competes with commercial grid-connected VSWTs in terms of simplicity, robustness and price.

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Control and operation of a new 8/6-pole doubly salient permanent-magnet motor drive [PDF]
This paper proposes a new 8/6-pole doubly salient permanent-magnet (DSPM) motor drive, which offers the advantages of higher power density, higher efficiency, and wider speed range. The corresponding control and operation of the motor drive are presented.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Speed-Control of Energy Regulation Based Variable-Speed Electrohydraulic Drive
The variable-speed electrohydraulic drive is a promising drive principle due to its high energy efficiency and large speed-range. However, its slow response and poor low-speed behaviour limit its application. To address these disadvantages, a energy regulation based variable-speed electrohydraulic drive is proposed.

The Detection of Shaft Misalignments using Motor Current Signals from a Sensorless Variable Speed Drive [PDF]
Shaft misalignments are common problems in rotating machines which cause additional dynamic and static loads, and vibrations in the system, leading to early damages and energy loss.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Investigations on the performances of the electrical generator of a rim-driven marine current turbine” [PDF]
In this paper, the electrical generator of a rim-driven horizontal-axis current turbine is modeled in detail. Its main characteristics and performances are evaluated (efficiency, mass, cost, etc).
