Recursive and Explicit Theoretical Enclosed Forms Variable Step-Size Incremental LMS

open access: yesIEEE Access
recursive and explicit theoretical enclosed-form relations of variable step-size (VSS) incremental least mean square (VSSILMS) are derived in agent localization and wireless sensor networks (WSNs). Possible relevant applications of this work include WSNs,

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

A fast variable step-size LMS algorithm with system identification

open access: yes, 2007
A fast variable step-size least-mean-square algorithm (MRVSS) is proposed and analyzed in this paper. The main features of the new algorithm include the twofold.

A variable step size fuzzy MPPT controller improving energy conversion of variable speed DFIG wind turbine

open access: yesRevue des Énergies Renouvelables, 2017
With the world’s fastest growing rate and the prominent part of installed renewable energy sources, it is clear that wind is now a mainstream source of energy supply that will play a leading role in the proclaimed fight against climate change.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

A Transient Stability Numerical Integration Algorithm for Variable Step Sizes Based on Virtual Input

open access: yesEnergies, 2017
In order to reduce the online calculations for power system simulations of transient stability, and dramatically improve numerical integration efficiency, a transient stability numerical integration algorithm for variable step sizes based on virtual ...

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Variable step-size LMS adaptive filters for CDMA multiuser detection

open access: yes, 2004
Due to its simplicity the adaptive Least Mean Square (LMS) algorithm is widely used in Code-Division Multiple access (CDMA) detectors. However its convergence speed is highly dependent on the eigen value spread of the input covariance matrix.
