Cloaking via mapping for the heat equation

open access: yes, 2017
This paper explores the concept of near-cloaking in the context of time-dependent heat propagation. We show that after the lapse of a certain threshold time instance, the boundary measurements for the homogeneous heat equation are close to the cloaked ...

Dynamic Precipitation during High‐Pressure Torsion of a Magnesium–Manganese Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An ultrafine‐grained alloy is produced by high‐pressure torsion of solutionized Mg–1.35 wt% Mn. Precipitation of nanometer‐scale Mn particles during deformation provides pinning sites. This prevents the formation of a bimodal grain structure and results in a finer grain size than for pure Mg.

Kramers-Kronig relations and causality conditions for graphene in the framework of the Dirac model

open access: yes, 2018
We analyze the concept of causality for the conductivity of graphene described by the Dirac model. It is recalled that the condition of causality leads to the analyticity of conductivity in the upper half-plane of complex frequencies and to the standard ...

Identification and characterization of the dominant thermal resistance in lithium-ion batteries using operando 3-omega sensors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Poor thermal transport within lithium-ion batteries fundamentally limits their performance, safety, and lifetime, in spite of external thermal management systems.

Characterization of Defect Distribution in an Additively Manufactured AlSi10Mg as a Function of Processing Parameters and Correlations with Extreme Value Statistics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for

An Inkjet‐Printed Platinum‐Based Temperature Sensing Element on Polyimide Substrates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An inkjet‐printed, meander‐structured, nanoparticle platinum‐based resistive temperature sensors on polyimide substrates are demonstrated as proof‐of‐concept. Optimized sintering at 250°C enables stable conductive structures. The Pt100‐ and Pt1000‐type sensors exhibit linear resistance–temperature characteristics with stable TCR in the 20°C–80°C range,

Magnetohydrodynamics stagnation point flow of tangent hyperbolic fluid over a non-flat rotating disk in intuitionistic fuzzy environment

open access: yesJournal of Ocean Engineering and Science
An analysis is performed for the three-dimensional stagnation point flow of magnetized tangent hyperbolic fluid over a rotating disk of variable thickness.

Heat Diffusion in Gases, Including Effects of Chemical Reaction [PDF]

open access: yes
The diffusion of heat through gases is treated where the coefficients of thermal conductivity and diffusivity are functions of temperature. The diffusivity is taken proportional to the integral of thermal conductivity, where the gas is ideal, and is ...

On the derivation of Fourier's law in stochastic energy exchange systems

open access: yes, 2008
We present a detailed derivation of Fourier's law in a class of stochastic energy exchange systems that naturally characterize two-dimensional mechanical systems of locally confined particles in interaction.
