Hydrostatic bearings excel in high‐precision applications, but their performance hinges on a continuous external supply. This study evaluates various material combinations for sliding surfaces to mitigate damage during supply failures or misalignment and to discover the most effective materials identified for enhancing the reliability and efficiency of

Transient temperature field analysis of variable viscosity RTHSB with a special structural cavity
A radial thrust hydrodynamic sliding bearing (RTHSB) with special shaped cavity had been designed. Taking the instantaneous temperature rise characteristics of RTHSB as an analysis object, considering the influence of inlet lubricating oil velocity and ...

Balanced-Viscosity solutions to infinite-dimensional multi-rate systems [PDF]
We consider generalized gradient systems with rate-independent and rate-dependent dissipation potentials. We provide a general framework for performing a vanishing-viscosity limit leading to the notion of parametrized and true Balanced-Viscosity solutions that include a precise description of the jump behavior developing in this limit.

The combination of battery product and characterization ontology (BPCO) and domain knowledge guides hypotheses development and leads to new insights into material–property relationship of battery materials. The use of “intermediate data” is introduced as a concept, and examples are shown on its use to analyze the agglomeration of carbon black and its ...

Improved viscosity-concentration equation for emulsions of nearly spherical droplets [PDF]
We propose an improved viscosity model accounting for experiments of emulsions of two immiscible liquids at arbitrary volume fractions and low shear rates. The model is based on a recursive-differential method formulated in terms of the appropriate scaling variable which emerges from an analysis of excluded volume effects in the system.

Correlation of turbulent trailing vortex decay data [PDF]
A correlation function, derived on the basis of self similar variable eddy viscosity decay, is introduced and utilized to correlate aircraft trailing vortex velocity data from ground and flight experiments.

Mechanisms of De‐icing by Surface Rayleigh and Plate Lamb Acoustic Waves
Ice accretion impacts daily life, renewable energy generation, maintenance, and security in industries and aeronautics. Acoustic waves (AW) are a promising method for ice removal, although de‐icing mechanisms require further investigation to optimize energy efficiency.

Developing process parameters for the laser‐based Powder Bed Fusion of metals can be a tedious task. Based on melt pool depth, the process parameters are transferable to different laser scan speeds. For this, understanding the melt pool scaling behavior is essential, particularly for materials with high thermal diffusivity, as a change in scaling ...

An exploration of viscosity models in the realm of kinetic theory of liquids originated fluids
The preeminent perspective of this article is to study flow of an Eyring Powell fluid model past a penetrable plate. To find the effects of variable viscosity on fluid model, continuity, momentum and energy equations are elaborated.
